Jenny McCarthy has weighed in with her opinion on ex-boyfriend Jim Carrey‘s appearance at the César Awards earlier this year.
Carrey’s honorary award acceptance speech at the ceremony went viral, after fans speculated he had been replaced with a clone version of himself.

GettySpeaking to PEOPLE at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, Jenny McCarthy said it was “definitely Jim Carrey” during the appearance.
The internet went wild with rumors that Carrey had used a stand-in for his appearance at the César Awards in Paris earlier this year – so much so that the general delegate of the awards ceremony was forced to speak out.
In a statement to Variety, Gregory Caulier said the actor’s appearance was a “historic moment.”
Getty“Jim Carrey’s visit has been planned since this summer. From the outset, he was extremely touched by the Academy’s invitation,” the statement read. “He worked on his speech in French for months, asking me about the exact pronunciation of certain words.”
He concluded, “For me, it’s a non-issue. I just remember his generosity, his kindness, his benevolence, his elegance.”
McCarthy noted how content her ex had seemed at the awards ceremony.
“He looked very happy at that award show. And I was happy for him,” she said. “That’s the first thing I noticed. I said, ‘Oh wow, Jim looks really happy.'”
McCarthy’s husband, Donnie Wahlberg, also weighed in.
“You know, that’s the part that, sadly, people miss,” he added. “We’re so obsessed with how he looks that we didn’t consider how happy he looked.”

“I’m so grateful for the years Jim and I shared together,” McCarthy said in a statement.
“I will continue to be in his daughter’s life and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart.”
Carrey sent similar warm sentiments in a tweet, posting, “I’m grateful 4 the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best! S’okay!”
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, McCarthy shared, “You know, the simple word I can give – and there’s a few, so let me say a few. The first thing is, when it’s not fun anymore, you need to start investigating and do an inquiry into the relationship.”
In his speech at the César Awards, Carrey thanked his “sublime companion,” Min Ah. McCarthy and Wahlberg married in 2014.
