Just a few days before her tragic death, “Big Brother” season 27 contestant Mickey Lee honestly spoke about how grateful she was for her life and everything she had achieved. The comments came shortly before she was hospitalized and her sudden death on Christmas Day after suffering from multiple cardiac arrests.
Mickey Lee is Positive About Life and Grateful for Her Opportunities
While making an appearance on the “Hip Hop United LLC” podcast on December 17, Lee was asked about how she measures happiness in her life by host Algernon Billups. The answer Lee subsequently provided after a short pause gives an insight into her positive outlook before she died.
“I wake up and I thank God everyday that I’m here,” she said.
“I’m happy when that happens. I have another day. I have clothes on my back, I have food on the table and I have my village.”
Billups then replied, saying, “Life itself is what should make you happy. Seeing another sunrise makes me happy. Having the ability to breathe; mobility — those are things that make me happy.”
Lee went on to express how much she agreed with those ideas before explaining that she hoped to spend more time with her family in the coming year as well as focus on her fitness goals and starting a new podcast.

Lee’s family announced her death on Instagram, writing, “Mickey captured the hearts of audiences nationwide through her appearance on ‘Big Brother,’ where her authenticity, strength, and spirit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members alike.”
They continued, “She will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of so many and for the genuine connections she formed both on and off screen.”
A GoFundMe page the family set up to help raise funds for her medical treatments after she was admitted to the hospital gave some details about the health issues Lee faced in the last few days. According to the page, Lee suffered several significant complications following a severe case of flu, including a number of cardiac arrests.

Among the many tributes that have poured in for the former “Big Brother” contestant was a heartfelt post from season 27 winner Ashley Hollis. Following some animosity between the pair in recent months, Hollis explained she had reached out to Lee in an attempt to end the hostility between them.
Writing on her Instagram account in a now-deleted story, Hollis shared a screenshot of a text message she had sent to Lee recently.
The message reads, “I wanted to reach out to you! I didn’t really get to see you this weekend plus I didn’t really wanna approach it in public with fans around and stuff!”
“But I wanted to reach out because I honestly didn’t like the way things transpired between us and I did really care about you in the house. I don’t want beef w u and I don’t want the two black girls to be pit against each other. I don’t like that! So I wanted to be the bigger person and reach out to squash the 🥩.”
