Ally Lewber was first introduced to reality TV viewers as James Kennedy’s girlfriend on Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules.” Following her split from the DJ in January 2025 after three years of dating, Lewber has shifted her focus to her career as an astrologer, made the big move from Los Angeles to Charleston, and is spending time with the likes of Maddie Reese and Joe Bradley from “Southern Hospitality.”
Lewber returned to reality TV on Netflix’s “Perfect Match” season 4, where she opened her heart up again since her split from Kennedy. In a new interview, she reflects on their relationship and even his shocking baby news.
Ally Lewber Looks Back on ‘Heavy’ Breakup with James Kennedy
GettyIn a new interview with Tudum by Netflix, Ally Lewber, who stars in the newest season of “Perfect Match,” reflected on her three-year relationship with James Kennedy, which she ended in January 2025 after his arrest for suspicion of domestic violence a month prior.
“The breakup was a heavy one. I’ve gone through breakups before, but it was really heavy,” she shared. After their split, Lewber admitted that she was “not interested in dating,” but rather, “just healing and hanging out with my friends.”
The astrologer also revealed that she had not been in a relationship since their breakup, but hoped her appearance on “Perfect Match” would help her embrace a fresh start.
“But for a while, I was not ready to open myself up in that way. So with ‘Perfect Match,’ I was like, “Okay, can I even form a crush?” I was really intrigued to just try single life,” she said.
Lewber continued, “I was really, really hesitant at first. My friend Rachel participated in Season 3, and she was like, “Do it. Trust me, Ally, I know you’re going to have so much fun.” I’ve always been in serious relationships, and I’ve never really done the dating apps or traditional going on dates. I was like, “That sounds fun and terrifying.” They say fear is a good thing, so I leaned toward it.”
Lewber Reacts to Kennedy’s Baby News
Kennedy has kept a low profile since his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence involving Lewber in December 2024. According to CNN, the former VPR star did not face charges and was “looking forward to continuing to focus on his sobriety and his DJ career,” a statement from his lawyer read.
In her interview, Lewber was asked about the latest news that Kennedy was going to be a dad for the first time, to which she shared she was “shocked” to hear.
“I didn’t know he had a girlfriend. Well, I was shocked originally, but not really at the same time. We know he moves quickly, and he always wanted to be a dad. That was always a thing with us. He was so ready for all of that stuff yesterday, and I’m still not ready. We haven’t talked, so I just hope he’s happy and healthy, and I wish them the best,” she said.
In May, TMZ reported that Kennedy was expecting his first child with his girlfriend of about seven months. It’s unclear who Kennedy is dating. The Bravo fan account @vanderpumprulesparty shared a video showing Kennedy with a blonde woman while attending Coachella in April.
Lewber has not spoken to Kennedy since their breakup. “I do still have some mutual friends with him, and even they were shocked by the news, so it sounds like he’s pretty low-key these days,” she added.
Fans can now tune in to the first five episodes of “Perfect Match” on Netflix to see if Lewber finds her match. A new batch of episodes will air on May 20.
