Alongside the release of the new album, Bryan and Aldean are also reflecting on the friendship they’ve built over the past two decades. Read on to discover what the country music stars had to say about their longtime bond.
Jason Aldean & Luke Bryan Team Up for New Duet on “Song About Us”
Country music superstar Jason Aldean reached out to his longtime friend, Luke Bryan, via text message to see if he would want to collaborate on a duet for this new album, “Song About Us,” which was released on April 24, 2026. Their duet carries the same name as the new album.
Bryan later revealed that, after sitting with it for a bit, he just knew it was the perfect song for the two of them to cover because of the many shared experiences they had growing up in Georgia. The country music star shared with Country Now, “And then when you think about what the song says, you know, it kind of references these topics that he and I have sang about for many, many years.”
Bryan continued by saying, “And these are songs about us. Back when he and I grew up in Georgia, we were doing those things, bar stools and cold beer and dancing and cover bands. And so, yeah, it says a lot about us. And that’s why it really works for us to be on it together.”
Jason Aldean Says Friendship With Luke Bryan Picks Up Right Where It Left Off
While the busy 49-year-olds don’t have a lot of free time to hang out and catch up, Aldean has shared that the duo is always able to pick back up right where they left off. Aldean shared, “Luke and I both obviously have our careers, and he’s doing American Idol stuff too. So, he’s out of town a lot, and it’s sometimes hard for us to catch up.”
He continued, “But, you know, we’ll see each other like out on the golf course somewhere or, you know, we like to hunt together, fish together, that kind of stuff, play golf.”
Luke Bryan & Jason Aldean Have Watched Each Other’s Families Grow Over the Years
Aldean also opened up about how special it has been to watch each other’s families grow over the years. The country music star shared, “So, I mean, it’s one of those things where, I mean, his family I’ve known, I’ve watched his boys grow up, and he’s watched my kids grow up. And watching Bo now, his oldest boy, is a quarterback, and he’s starting to get some D1 scholarships to go to college, and like those kinda things.”
Luke Bryan married his wife Caroline Boyer in December 2006. They welcomed their first son, Bo Bryan, into the world in March 2008. Their second son, Tate Bryan, arrived in August 2010. Luke and Caroline also helped raise Luke’s nephew, Til, and nieces, Jordan and Kris, after the deaths of Luke’s sister and brother-in-law.
Jason Aldean married former “American Idol” contestant, Brittany Kerr, in March 2015. They welcomed their son, Memphis, in December 2017, and their daughter, Navy, in February 2019. Aldean also shares two daughters with his ex-wife, Jessica. Their daughter Keeley was born in 2003, and their daughter Kendyl was born in 2007.
Aldean concluded his thoughts about his meaningful friendship with Bryan, stating, “So, it’s cool, like you’re invested more than just a friend. You’re invested in the family, and he and I’ve been friends for almost 20 years at this point, so it’s been a cool friendship cool relationship, and yes we work together and do that kinda stuff, but we also hang out and have business ventures and different things away from music, too.”
With nearly two decades of friendship behind them, Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean continue proving why they’ve remained two of country music’s biggest stars for so many years. Between their shared Georgia roots, growing families, and successful careers, the release of “Song About Us” serves as a fitting reflection of the bond they’ve built both on and off the stage.
