Jen Affleck was thrilled that September 16, the “Dancing With the Stars” Season 34 premiere date, was almost here. And on September 3, her dancing partner was also revealed: Jan Ravnik.
Best known for his work as a dancer for Taylor Swift, Ravnik’s positive energy is comparable to hers. “I have the best partner and I couldn’t be happier,” she told People.
“It’s been fun, it’s fun working with someone who has a lot of energy and is super positive. It’s making this experience even better,” she said.
“The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” has been open in the past about “dark feelings” during her pregnancy. Thankfully, she discovered her strenuous DWTS training was also a significant mental health booster.
How ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Helped Jen Avoid the Baby Blues
“I’m still in the thick of postpartum, staying up late, doing feedings and whatnot, so that’s challenging. But honestly, if anything, it’s been helping me,” Jen said.
“I think if I didn’t have “Dancing with the Stars,” I’d probably be dealing with baby blues and potentially postpartum depression, which can be the most challenging thing that you can experience after having a baby,” She admitted. “So honestly, I’m just grateful I have “Dancing with the Stars.”
“The way that I’ve coped through all of my babies has been through dancing,” she added. “So the fact that I’m now dancing on a real stage in front of millions of people makes this experience even more exciting.”

But even with all the positives she’s gotten from joining DWTS, Affleck acknowledged that starting rigorous dance workouts eight months after giving birth has been difficult.
“The training is intense,” she revealed. “I have blisters on my feet and bruises all over my body. I’m so sore. But at the same time, it’s worth it because I’m having so much fun.”
Even so, having two kids under four, along with a newborn, means downtime is limited. The MomTok creator makes an effort to rest and relax whenever possible.
“I’m definitely making sure to get as much rest as I can, even though that’s challenging with a baby,” she acknowledged. “But if anything, this is filling my cup, doing the things that I love. I’m so enjoying doing “Dancing with the Stars” and sharing my story. It’s filling that cup, which is, in return, helping me become the best version of myself and the best mom that I can be.”
