“We had our first ultrasound at six weeks and there were seven babies,” Gosselin, 50, said in the video posted September 3. “I think they had us come back the next week — it was either the next week or two weeks, I can’t honestly remember — to see how they had progressed. In between that time, the seventh baby stopped growing.”

Despite the devastating news, Gosselin said the moment deepened her resolve to protect the remaining fetuses. “From that point on, I was in it,” she explained. “I was going to fight for them. I was going to do whatever. Not that I wasn’t before, but just the fact that it was dangled, I was threatened with losing them, it made me realize how much I already loved them. So that was very miraculous.”

In the comments section, she added that she “always thought” the seventh baby would have been a girl, and said she would have named her Emma.

Overcoming Challenges on the Path to Motherhood

Gosselin has been candid about her struggles with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition that can make it difficult to conceive without medical intervention. She and her then-husband, Jon Gosselin, turned to fertility treatments, which ultimately led to the conception of their sextuplets.

The pregnancy was not without complications. Gosselin recalled experiencing kidney stones, ovarian overstimulation, and bleeding episodes that left her fearful she might lose all of her babies. “I, of course, thought this was the beginning of a miscarriage [and] I was losing them all,” she said.

She described the relief she felt during an emergency ultrasound: “At some point, she just got really quiet and I thought, ‘Here we go, it’s done,’ and I was really, really scared. All of a sudden, she said, ‘I see six.’ And I said, ‘You see six what?!’ And she said, ‘I see six heartbeats, they’re there.’”

Her six babies — Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel, and Leah — were born in 2004, two months before their due date and within three minutes of one another. Gosselin revealed she did not meet them until hours later due to her recovery, but she remained grateful for their safe delivery.

Gosselin and her husband at the time later starred in the TLC reality series “Jon & Kate Plus 8” with their sextuplets and twin daughters, Cara and Mady. Though the couple divorced in 2009, the show made the Gosselins household names and introduced millions to their story of resilience, challenges, and unconditional love.
