A photo of Davis was shared on Instagram by Mirtha Michelle, who praised the actress and paid tribute to her “baseball movie”, referencing the 1992 film, “A League of Their Own.” In the caption, she wrote, “Fun times last night at the @fashiontrustus awards. Celebrated friends and randomly fulfilled my childhood dream of meeting the incomparable, beautiful (and tall) Geena Davis— I really was at a fashion event thinking about a baseball movie,” she wrote.

Davis has long been celebrated for her stylish outfits, but one of the best things about her is that she is not afraid to take risks, even when they don’t pay off. An example of this is the white dress she wore to the 1992 Academy Awards, which was designed by Ruth Meyers and Bill Hargate. Davis received criticism for the dress at the time, but made a powerful statement in April, 2025.

“I was surprised,” she recalled of the feedback to her dress, which was custom-made, Us Weekly reports. “And I went to a lunch with several other female actors at some point before the next Oscars and we were all talking and somehow that dress came up and I said, ‘You know, (expletive) them. I thought that was great. I should just wear it again this coming year.’ And they were like, ‘Yeah, let’s all wear copies of it!’ It was my favorite fantasy — that we would do that. But I thought it was awesome.”

She also revealed that she still owned the dress. “I still have it. I have all my Oscar gowns that weren’t borrowed, packed in, like, bridal boxes preserved,” she said.

In the same interview, Davis discussed her modeling career. “I really enjoyed being a model. I was a very low-level model, by the way,” she said. “But I would do things like Layne Bryant Tall catalog and stuff. I wasn’t, like, in Vogue or anything like that. But I made a nice living, and it’s very much, at least my experience of it, self-driven.”
