Kim Kardashian once again stole the spotlight at the 2026 Met Gala.
The reality TV star always seems to make headlines for her red carpet looks at the annual event, and this year is no exception.
2026 marks her 13th time attending the annual event, held at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

What Is Kim Kardashian Wearing?
Before stepping onto the red carpet, Kardashian teased the color palette of her look on social media, promising “more neutral bronze tones” this time around. Then, right before she left the hotel, she showed off her look in full on her Instagram page (above).
Crediting the wild ensemble to Allen Jones & Whitaker Malem, Kardashian wore a medallic breastplate, which appeared sculpted to her body. She paired the look with a matching leather skirt, a blonde ‘do, and nude Louboutin heels.

2026 Met Gala Theme Explained
GettyThe annual event is held to help raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
This year’s spring exhibition at the center of the celebration is “Costume Art,” while the dress code for the red carpet is “Fashion is Art.”
According to Vogue, the exhibition “explores the ‘centrality of the dressed body’ through depictions and interpretations of the human form,” with dresses paired with paintings, sculptures, and other works from art history.
“In turn, the dress code encourages attendees to consider the many ways that designers use the body as their blank canvas,” added the publication.
The co-chairs for the 2026 Met Gala are Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour.
Kim Kardashian’s Past Met Gala Looks
Kardashian brought her followers on a trip down memory lane on Sunday, May 3, posting a carousel of her past Met Gala looks. “Year 13 loading…” she captioned the post.
The first look featured was the Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy gown she wore at her Met Gala debut alongside Kanye West in 2013. At the time, she was pregnant with her first child, North West, and rocked a floral print dress with built-in glove sleeves that drew comparisons to a couch on social media.
Kim and Kanye returned the following year, with Kardashian wearing a navy Lanvin dress in 2014, before she donned a slinkier, sheer Roberto Cavalli gown alongside her then-husband in 2015.
Her last carpet with Kanye came in 2016, as Kardashian wore a metallic Balmain dress for the Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology-themed affair. In 2017, a solo Kim sported a white Vivienne Westwood dress, before stepping into a gold Versace number the following year.
In 2019, she stunned fans in a latex Mugler number that literally dripped diamonds, before really shocking everyone by completely covering herself in black fabric in 2021. The latter look was Balenciaga.
GettyThen, in 2022, Kardashian made headlines by wearing a vintage Jean-Louis dress first worn by Marilyn Monroe, while attending with then-boyfriend Pete Davidson. The gown was loaned to her by Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, with Kardashian losing 16 pounds in three weeks just to fit into it.
For the 2023 event, she covered herself in pearls in a Schiaparelli look, which included a tight corset and massive train. Kardashian followed up that ensemble in 2024 with a silver-leaf Maison Margiela creation, one that also made headlines thanks to the gray cardigan she wore over her shoulders on the carpet.
Prior to the 2026 carpet, her most recent Met Gala appearance was in 2025. The theme was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, with Kardashian wearing a custom Chrome Hearts dress she said on social media was inspired by Lenny Kravitz.
