‘Brady Bunch’ Star Christopher Knight Sets Record Straight on Co-Star Romance

“Brady Bunch” star Christopher Knight (Peter) is setting the record straight on a long-rumored romance with his television sister, co-star Eve Plumb (Jan).

The 1970s television star opened up about the relationship on the heels of the publication of Plumb’s new book, “Happiness Included: Jan Brady and Beyond.” In the memoir, Plumb discussed her life in the public eye. She addressed one of the biggest fan questions of all: Did she and her television brother’s relationship ever turn romantic?

Christopher Knight Admits to Eve Plumb Romance Being a Near-Miss

In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Christopher Knight said that any romance with his on-screen sister, Eve Plumb, was a near miss.

He said the cast was close due to their proximity in age and the amount of time they spent shooting “The Brady Bunch.” He revealed, “It’s funny because … for all those years, from 10, 11 till 16 … the only people in my world that I was close to really were this group, this cast.”

Knight continued, “Eve was more mature than I very early [and] always had, from the earliest I can remember, her claim on me, but I wasn’t there. You know, I wasn’t ready to be claimed. I wasn’t even aware for part of that time that it just wasn’t there, right to the very end.”

“And right as, all of a sudden, I’m now ready perhaps to turn around and recognize this attention and maybe give some of my own, we’re off the air. It was sweet, but it was [not] destined, and I’m glad. Because surely, you know, exes aren’t somebody you normally stay very close to. So we never had a chance to be an item, to find a distance in one another,” he concluded.

In her new memoir, Eve Plumb opened up about a romance with Christopher Knight. She wrote, as per PEOPLE, “Any attempts at making out that evening ended with laughter and resignation that we’d always be sister and brother, even in real life.”

Today, they maintain a close relationship. However, Barry Williams (Greg) admitted that Plumb and Knight weren’t the only Brady kids who were involved with one another romantically.

In 2025, the actor told PEOPLE that his relationship with his TV sibling, Maureen McCormick, (Marcia) was “on-again, off-again.” “There was always a little dance being played that was broken up by a hiatus,” Williams revealed.

“When she was pretending to have be affectionate with other guys and going out on dates and stuff, I liked to just stay out of the way and let her do her job and focus on and concentrate until, you know, until an episode that called for us to be sitting next to one another,” Williams added.

Additionally, Williams told FOX News, “We all grew up together. We’re the people that we knew, we trusted. We spent more time together as a ‘Brady’ family than with our own families. And we genuinely liked each other, and it seemed kind of a normal extension of affection.”

“Bobby (Mike Lookinland) and Cindy (Susan Olsen) had a fake marriage in Tiger’s doghouse, literally,” he added. In his book “Growing Up Brady,” Williams elaborated that when Lookinland and Olsen wanted a “divorce,” they did their entire ceremony in reverse.
