Joanna and Chip Gaines made a donation to Baylor University’s baseball program, which included the new Magnolia Field. The former HGTV star opened up about how the sport shaped his life and his pride in sharing that gift with his children and Baylor athletes.
Chip Gaines Shares How Baseball Shaped His Life
On January 16, Chip took to Instagram to share photos of how baseball has been a large part of his life over the years.
“Baseball has been a constant in my life since I can remember — first with my dad, learning the game and the lessons that came with it, and now getting to pass that same love on to my own boys,” he wrote in the caption.
Chip continued, “It’s where I first learned to work hard, play for the people next to me, and believe in something bigger than myself. To see that legacy live on at Baylor — on a field that now carries the @magnolia name — is a humbling reminder of what this game means to so many and that dreams really do come true.”
“Thank you to the coaches, players, and fans who show up season after season to keep this tradition alive,” he added. “Now, let’s play ball!”
In a statement, Chip and Joanna shared, “Baylor has always been more than a university to us. It’s a place that shaped who we are and continues to shape leaders who care deeply about people. Baseball, in particular, has played a meaningful role in our family for generations. It’s where lessons are passed down, relationships are built, and memories are made – on and off the field.”

On January 12, Chip shared some scenes from the Magnolia Field unveiling event at Baylor.
“It’s an honor and a privilege … really to be honest, a lifelong dream to partner with @BaylorBaseball!!” he explained in the caption.
“We are incredibly proud to introduce @Magnolia Field at Baylor Ballpark!” Chip added.
