Drummer of The Beatles, Ringo Starr, 85, gave fans a major update on his career — and it’s already in the making!
On Tuesday, March 3, Ringo shared in a press statement that he will be releasing a country-inspired album on April 24, titled “Long Long Road.” To celebrate his solo album, The Beatles star has already released “It’s Been Too Long” as one of the record’s main hit singles, Independent reported.
Ringo Starr Says ‘Long Long Road’ Just ‘Sort of Happened’
In Ringo’s press statement, shared to his official website, he expressed how thankful he was to have T Bone Burnett in his corner to produce and co-write his upcoming album.
“I’m blessed to have T Bone in my life right now and working with me on these records,” Ringo said.
The musician went on to explain that after releasing his successful January 2025 country album, “Look Up,” he sort of stumbled upon creating new music for what’s to come.
“After we did the last record, which I love listening to, this one just sort of happened,” Ringo said. “I like to say sometimes I make the right moves, like you can go left or right at any point, and one of the right moves was hooking up with T Bone for ‘Look Up,’ and now for this one, which I’m calling ‘Long Long Road,’ because I’ve been on a long long road.”
Ringo noted that while curating music for the album, he was inspired by guitarist Carl Perkins. “I recorded two Carl Perkins songs with The Beatles, and both T Bone and I wanted one on this record and he found this beautiful track I’d never heard before, ‘I Don’t See Me In Your Eyes Anymore.’”
‘Long Long Road’ Tracklist
While Ringo is regarded as a prominent drummer for The Beatles, T Bone shared that after attending a poetry reading together, he realized just how deep Ringo’s musical expertise was, saying in the press statement that Ringo’s talents are of the “highest caliber.”
“I’ve loved Ringo’s playing and his singing for my whole life,” T Bone added. “I wrote him a Gene Autry type song because I always heard Ringo as a Texas artist, the way he played felt just like Texas music to me.”
“Long Long Road,” which was recorded in Nashville, will feature 10 songs, including collaborations from notable artists such as Sheryl Crow, Billy Strings and St Vincent. His pre-released single, which dropped on March 3, featured vocals from Sarah Jarosz and Molly Tuttle.
