Musician Maren Morris had a great year in 2025. But when she rang in the New Year with a performance in Times Square on December 31 for “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2026,” some fans may not have realized that she was struggling with a serious sinus infection.

She posted a photo of her face that appeared swollen, red, and painful. “Sorry jumpscare but days leading up to my performance, I had the worst sinus infection of my life and it swelled up my face and then proceeded to evolve into some insane skin reaction,” she wrote, People reports. “So, I’m relieved I was able to sing last night. Thank you antibiotics, afrin & aquaphor. Oh and concealer.”
Also on her Stories, the singer shared two boxes of her nasal decongestant spray Afrin, and informed her followers that she was “stopping today [for] all those concerned!”

Morris delivered a memorable performance on New Year’s Eve when she took to the stage to sing some of her biggest hits, including “The Bones,” “The Middle,” and “80s Mercedes.” She was thrilled to be a part of the New Year’s Eve special and shared a video on Instagram on January 1, 2026.

The post shows a glimpse of Times Square on New Year’s Eve. In the caption, Morris shared her thoughts. “Performed in Times Square last night for NYE right as it started to snow, met the queen Diana Ross, had Janet help me button my bodysuit (that’s a real manager) and got super emo when confetti fell over thousands of hopeful, happy people in one of my favorite cities,” she wrote. “happy 2026, world.”
Fans were thrilled with Morris and her performance, and she looked gorgeous in a sparkly dress and long gloves.
