The Group Continues to Tour
The Jacksons have remained active on tour, continuing to perform many of the songs that helped make the family one of the most influential acts in music history.
While the group originally rose to fame as The Jackson 5 alongside their younger brother Michael Jackson, today Marlon and Jackie continue bringing the catalog to audiences around the world.
The frightening fall comes at a time when Marlon has also been celebrating another major Jackson family project: the Michael Jackson biopic, “Michael.”
In recent interviews, Marlon has spoken enthusiastically about his nephew, Jaafar Jackson, who portrays Michael in the film.
“First of all, let me say one thing,” Marlon said at the premiere. “I say this every time I speak of this movie: Jaafar is unbelievable.”
Marlon explained that watching his nephew embody Michael has been an emotional experience because of how closely the performance resembles his late brother.
“As a matter of fact, I think he’s the only one that could have done this,” he said. “I’m watching the movie and sometimes I’m thinking I’m watching Michael up there, and I forget ‘Oh, it’s Jaafar.’”
Having spent decades performing alongside Michael, Marlon said he knows better than most what made the superstar unique.
“I’ve been on the side of Michael for umpteen years, so I know—Jaafar is damn good,” he added. “This is special. It’s a special moment.”
For now, fans appear relieved that Marlon’s scary onstage fall did not derail the show, and many are hoping the music legend escaped the incident without any serious injuries.
