Ricky Martin’s Concert Abruptly Halted After Scary Incident

Ricky Martin has kicked off the European leg of his Ricky Martin Tour, and his concert in Montenegro on Thursday, May 21, did not go off without a hitch. The musician’s show had to be abruptly halted mid-performance after an attendee released tear gas near the stage.

Ricky Martin’s Rep Shares Positive Update After Concert Incident

Martin’s rep, Róndine Alcalá, confirmed what happened in a statement shared on Instagram, explaining that the incident resulted in “an abrupt interruption of the show as audience members moved away from the area and received assistance.”

Alcalá continued, “As a precautionary measure, Ricky Martin and his entire team immediately exited the stage while security personnel local authorities worked to contain the situation and ensure the safety of those in attendance. Although members of the artist’s team advised against continuing the performance, once authorities confirmed that the situation was under control and that attendees could safely return, Ricky Martin made the decision to resume the concert in order to fulfill his commitment to his fans.”

Alcalá also wrote that Martin will continue with his “upcoming performances across Europe and additional international dates as scheduled.” The “Livin’ la Vida Loca” singer and his team are “safe and grateful for the support and concern received following tonight’s events in Montenegro,” Alcalá shared in the caption.

Fans Show Support for Ricky Martin

Fans flooded the comment section of Alcalá’s post with messages of support for Martin. “What a sad moment! Thank you @rickymartin continue with the show x for the fans present,” a fan wrote. “Did they arrest the person who caused the chaos?,” a second fan questioned. “Ricky is always so loving with us, his fans. It’s good that it didn’t escalate.”

Some fans who were there when the tear gas was released have also shared their thoughts. “We were there. Thanks Ricky and his team for everything, they are all professionals,” a comment reads. “We very enjoyed the concert.”

“My heart was beating so fast in fear for all. Ricky was brave to continue show but I know he only did it knowing all team & fans were ok & safe,” another fan shared.

Ricky Martin’s Live Shows Will Continue

Martin has not yet broken his silence on the incident, but he has an exciting lineup of performances over the next few months. His scheduled performances include stops at Pula, Croatia, on June 19, San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy, on June 21, multiple performances in Pully, Switzerland, from June 24 to June 27, Oberhausen, Germany, on June 27, Prague, Czech Republic, on June 29, Krakow, Poland, on July 2, and Istanbul, Turkey, on July 11, Songkick reports.

Ricky Martin is beloved by fans around the world. His songs are catchy, but they’re also meaningful. He sings in Spanish, and in English, and in a January 2026 interview with Fact Magazine, the musician was asked why he feels his “music continues to translate so easily.”

“Emotion,” he said. “Music is energy. When you sing from a real place, people feel it in their bodies before they understand it with their minds.” He continued, “Vulnerability is key. When someone sings along in a language that isn’t their own, that’s connection at its purest.”
