Sara Bareilles Finds Animal Skull Inside Her Home’s Walls: ‘OHHH MY GOD’

Singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles had a very unexpected home discovery—and documented every chaotic, gross, and oddly musical second of it.

In a nearly five-minute TikTok video posted on March 20, the “Love Song” singer took her followers along as she uncovered what turned out to be the remains of an animal hidden inside a small door in her home’s wall.

And yes—she opened the video by singing about it.

“When you live in the country and you open a door … you see some stuff falling out,” Bareilles sang at the start of the video, before quickly realizing what she was actually dealing with.

“It’s a skull, and it’s a skull. It’s the bone of a maggot-filled skull,” she continued, visibly shocked.

After explaining she had never been able to open the small door before, Bareilles said she walked in that day to find debris scattered on the floor, prompting her to finally investigate what was inside.

What she found? Not for the weak.

Armed with gloves and a shovel, Bareilles began removing what she described as the carcass of a “giant rodent”—possibly a racoon, she hypothesized.

“I’m really grossed out. I’m really grossed out,” she repeated while working through the mess.

At one point, she exclaimed, “The skull, I have the skull!” before continuing to uncover more remains.

Things only escalated from there.

Bareilles described the body as “big … like a turkey,” adding that it appeared to be “multiple things” as she discovered additional bones and tails.

“It’s, like, birthing itself backwards,” she said at one moment, equal parts horrified and fascinated.

Bareilles said she planned to respectfully return the animal remains to nature.

“I am gonna give these little creatures a little blessing and set them back into nature, even though they’re quite very, very dead, but, um, I’m gonna sage the place, and then I’m gonna take a shower,” she ended the video.

Honestly? Same.
