There were mixed feelings when Bravo decided to reboot “The Real Housewives of New York City” to include an entirely new, fresh-faced cast. RHONY was rebooted for season 14 and introduced viewers to younger, successful women who didn’t just reside on the Upper East Side.
While fans may miss OG RHONY favorites like Sonja Morgan, Luann de Lesseps, and Ramona Singer, many are wondering, do the original Housewives ever cross paths with the rebooted crew? After all, they all call New York City home.
Dorinda Medley Gives Honest Take on Relationships With the New RHONY Cast
Getty“The Real Housewives of New York City” icon Ramona Singer appeared as a guest on her former co-star Dorinda Medley and Kiki Monique’s “Reality Checked” podcast on SiriusXM, where they reminisced about their days as apple holders.
However, what fans found most intriguing was when Singer and Medley were asked about their RHONY co-stars’ relationships with the new rebooted cast. Do these women mingle together at some of New York’s hottest restaurants?
When Monique asked the women, “Do you ever see the new RHONY girls around town? Are you friendly with them?” Medley shared, “Never,” adding, “We’re not unfriendly. It’s very interesting. People want to, and I think you’ll agree with this, Ramona. People have this misconception that we are angry, or we don’t get along, or we’re in competition.”
She continued, “One had nothing to do with the other. But listen, no, I never see them.”
Singer appeared to agree with Medley, adding that the original RHONY cast are “genuine friends.” Was that a subtle dig at the rebooted cast? Viewers who have watched the reboot have argued that it seemed to have manufactured drama, with others believing that the new cast weren’t actually real friends, as some scenes felt forced.
Medley Believed the RHONY Cast Shakeup Was ‘Hard’ on Fans
GettyMedley understood that many longtime RHONY fans were not too happy that the franchise was getting an entire reboot, which also meant an entirely new cast. During an interview with Bravo’s “Hot Mic” in January, she shared that it was “a tremendous jump” to “loyal” fans.
“I think they (Bravo) made an executive decision. Get rid of one and replace with the other. I personally think that was a tremendous jump and it was tricky becauseย we have such deeply loyal, committed fansย that grew up with these women that it was a lot for them,” she said. “All of the sudden, โnow you see them, now you donโtโ and present these new girls who are beautiful and talented and really, the new New York.”
She continued, “The crown is heavy. Thereโs a lot of people in middle America that still canโt quite let go of the old girls. Itโs not a matter of them being good, us being better, us being worse, them being good. Itโs just change is hard for the audience.”
The new rebooted cast consisted of Sai De Silva,ย Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy,ย Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, Brynn Whitfield, andย Racquel Chevremont, withย fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff,ย a friend of the cast. According to Up and Adam Live, after a shaky season 15, the upcoming season will reportedly star Silva, Lichy, and Taank, while introducing new cast members.

I have never watched a full episode of the new new york, i definitely miss all the original girls,, the trips to Dorinda’s .. the glamour of what we in blighty expect New york upper east side women to be.. & its not the new crew at all. It was as bad as letting LVP leave the Beverly hills crew. I still live in hope that Bravo or HAYU decide to bring all the original girls back together for us loyal RHNY fans.
