Former RHONJ star Jackie Goldschneider is turning her hardest personal trials into a beacon of hope for fans.
In her most inspiring update yet, the beloved Bravo celebrity opened up about finding peace with her body and prioritizing her health and well-being. Instead of offering generic advice, she offered a raw look at the grueling road to getting healthy, making her current progress all the more remarkable.
Jackie Goldschneider Opened Up About Her Difficult Recovery Journey
In a Substack post written for Hungryish, Jackie Goldschnider shared a look at a period of time when she suffered from an eating disorder. The former reality star took fans inside her life, and the struggles she faced giving her body the necessary fuel it needed.
She bravely wrote, “For 18 years, foods had to feel ‘safe’ in order for me to eat them. But as I fell deeper into the grips of anorexia, there were fewer and fewer foods that felt safe until, eventually, there was almost nothing I could eat without a paralyzing fear of gaining weight.”
Goldschneider added, “I clung so tightly to my eating disorder. After a lifetime of being overweight, I was addicted to the feeling of being thin, especially at the beginning, and obsessed with keeping myself thin.”
She concluded, “But restriction required discipline and order, so every day I made another rule about what and how I could eat. Before I knew it, there were so many rules and so many foods were off limits. I didn’t trust food unless I knew the exact nutritional content it contained and the size of the portion never varied.”
Fans reacted to Goldschneider’s brave admissions in the comments section of her Instagram post. They applauded her bravery in addressing her past issues in the hopes of helping others.
“I’m so sorry for what you went through. I don’t think, no I KNOW, some of us are not even aware of what this is like. We never know what other people are going through. Big prayers. You are beautiful!” wrote one follower.
A second fan penned, “You’re a good person for sharing because I do believe it reaches and helps others.” A third social media follower added, “You are an inspiration to everyone.”
Jackie Goldschneider is Almost Fully Recovered From Her Health Struggles
GettyIn 2024 the former RHONJ star admitted she is almost fully recovered from her battle against anorexia.
“I have this 25 percent of these old habits that I’m scared to let go of,” Jackie Goldschneider said during an appearance on Jana Kramer’s “Whine Down” podcast. She added, “I am not anorexic anymore. I don’t restrict like that anymore.”
“I have not weighed myself since May of 2021,” she shared. The former reality star said, “I can’t hate a number that I don’t know.”
“When I was really sick, it was very obsessive for me,” Goldschneider concluded. “Every half pound would set me off in a different direction. I had to feel thin. I couldn’t have one extra ounce on my body.”
Jackie Goldschneider discussed her remarkable recovery in her 2023 memoir, “The Weight of Beautiful.” She recently celebrated her 20th wedding anniversary with her husband, Evan. The couple shares four children.
