Robyn Brown’s First Reaction to Kody Brown Joining ‘Special Forces’ Revealed

Fox’s “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” returns on Sept. 25 with a brand-new season, featuring celebrities, reality TV stars, and athletes who are pushed through military-style challenges that test both their physical strength and emotional resilience.

TLC’s “Sister Wives” patriarch Kody Brown is one of the stars who will be stepping far outside his comfort zone, but what did his wife, Robyn Brown, really think of him joining the show?

Kody Brown’s Wife Robyn Brown Was Hesitant About Him Joining ‘Special Forces’

Ahead of the season 4 premiere of Fox’s most intense reality TV series, “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,” Kody Brown spoke exclusively to People about what his wife, Robyn Brown’s, initial reactions were when he was approached to do the show.

“My wife, Robyn, when the show was introduced to us, she was like, ‘I don’t think I want you to do that and we’ve got to have a discussion,'” he told the outlet, adding, “There ended up not being a discussion. It just became an assumption from then on.”

Kody shared with People that once Robyn understood what the show was about, she couldn’t hold him back. For him, taking on the series became a way to heal and push forward after the end of his other three marriages to Meri Brown, Christine Brown Woolley, and Janelle Brown, all of which played out on “Sister Wives.”

“I feel like it was just a challenge. I wanted to sort of put a pivot in my life, change the directions I was going,” he said, adding that it was an “exceptional experience.”

Of course, Kody was also asked if his former wives said anything to him about joining the show: “No,” he said, sharing that they are only “connected” through the TLC series.

Fans Will See a Different Side to Brown

In an extended YouTube clip teasing season 4, Kody is shown suiting up for a boxing match against another celebrity and admits in a confessional, “There’s a bad side of me that I just want to burn down.” Moments later, he’s pummeled by his opponent until he appears to collapse, forcing directing staff member Mark “Billy” Billingham to shout, “Stop!”

In an interview with Extra, Kody revealed that he pulled his hamstring on Day 3 and tried to hide it, because it was “constantly a state of fear” while participating on the show. As viewers know, the show does not have a formal elimination process, but recruits may be medically withdrawn.

In his conversation with Extra, Kody did admit that doing the show made him more “appreciative” of his life despite some physical setbacks.

“You’re in danger’s way, you’re with peers that you’re supposed to help support, you don’t even know them. We formulated into a team amid some extreme difficulty, and when you come home after that experience, everything else seems easy,” he shared. “After this experience, my life seems easy.”
