Trisha Mann-Grant has become a famous soap star thanks to her role as Leslie on “Beyond the Gates.” Onscreen her character Leslie is always becoming involved in drama. Offscreen, the actress is also going through her own struggles with her son.
‘Beyond the Gates’ Actress Trisha Mann-Grant Is Trying to Save Homeless Son
The character Leslie is always stirring up trouble, mainly for The Duprees. But she’s also antagonizing other Fairmont Crest residents, including June (Jasmine Burke).
June is the biological mother of Samantha (Najah Jackson) and Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller). When June developed a drug addiction, CPS took her children, who were later adopted by Martin (Brandon Claybon) and Smitty (Mike Manning). After losing her children, June’s addiction spiraled out of control leading to her becoming homeless. But thanks to Naomi (Arielle Prepetit), June’s got a second chance at life and has reunited with her kids.
June’s story has resonated with many people, including Mann-Grant. On Instagram, the actress posted a scene with Leslie, June, and Eva (Ambyr Michelle) discussing June’s former living situation.
“TRUE STORY: During this scene with @ambrymichelle_ and @thejasmineburke, my homeless son, Daniel, crossed my mind. I also remembered the time when he was 5 and I was pregnant with his sister and was myself homeless for a period,” she began her post.
Mann-Grant says that Leslie throwing a dig at June’s situation was hard for her. “As actors, we have to sometimes detach what we’ve experienced to get through dialogue or use what we’ve experienced. In this scene, I had to detach from the almost 12 years of having a child who chooses to live a homeless lifestyle.”
The actress then revealed that she’s remaining positive that she can help her son. “Before any of these experiences, I have always had empathy for the homeless, but as the mother of one, now more than ever. I have done all I can to get Danny off the streets but know this; I have not lost hope.”
