Iconic Actor, 95, Speaks Out Against False AI Claims About His Health

William Shatner is “fit as a fiddle!”

The “Star Trek” alum is warning fans about AI-generated reports claiming that the 95-year-old is in poor health.

William Shatner Warn Fans About AI Rumors

Shatner took to social media the day after April Fool’s Day to send a stern warning about false AI reports circulating online.

“I wanted to put this out yesterday but given the day and the possibility that it would look like a joke I waited for today,” he began in his lengthy message to fans. “There is a page on Facebook that is using AI to create horrible fake news stories about me. The page is by The Beanstalk Functions Group which is allegedly an Event Planner in South Africa.”

Shatner continued, “They have created stories that say I have stage 4 brain cancer, was in some kind of fight with Erika Kirk and that I’m dying. All their stories are monetized. Most of the stories use an AI image of me.”

He went on to say that Facebook Support has not taken action to remove the fake stories, despite his insistence. Shatner also reached out to the CEO of the faux company via X, he claimed, asking to have the posts taken down.

“None of these stories are true but they apparently seem genuine enough for fans to repost them across social media and send messages of support to me and my family all while the culprits behind the account make money,” Shatner continued. “This is the downside of AI and yellow journalism. While can be a wonderful tool in the right hands; it can be used as a weapon in the wrong hands.”

He later shared in a follow-up message that his granddaughter believed one of the fake stories.

“My Daughter came over to tell me her daughter heard that I had brain cancer,” he revealed. “She took this photo and sent it to me to upload to prove I’m not ill. 🤷The people who are ill are those that are spreading these ridiculous stories. I’m fit as a fiddle. You don’t have to worry. This is getting insane.”

Shatner’s Recent Health Battle

The “Boston Legal” actor recently underwent shoulder surgery to repair an injury sustained after falling off a horse.

“I ride the horses that can compete in equine skills, which is fast down and ends on a sliding stop,” he said of the incident, per Page Six. “And the horse that I owned, I came off…I’m not a young stuntman anymore. I started to roll but hit the dirt with my shoulder. So, I wrecked my shoulder.”

Following the “routine procedure,” Shatner was back in action.

  1. You’ve asked “nicely”. Now, sue for nine digits. Settle for an amount so large, that no one will doubt that they were wrong.
