‘Survivor 50’: Will the Beloved Loved Ones Visit Reward Return This Season?

Over the last 26 years, only a handful of “Survivor” castaways have made it far enough into the competition to experience the beloved (and dearly missed) loved ones visit reward

Typically occurring when there are just five-to-seven players remaining in the game, the reward has seen several iterations over the years, though the castaways are always competing for the same thing: the chance to spend some quality time with their loved ones after surviving three weeks isolated from the outside world while marooned on a desert island.

To the dismay of fans, the family visit reward was discontinued as “Survivor” entered its so-called “New Era” and reduced the duration of seasons from their previous 39-day length to their now-standard 26 days.

While we haven’t seen the castaways’ loved ones descend on Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands since 2020’s “Survivor: Winners at War,” there’s been plenty of speculation that the franchise plans to resurrect the emotional tradition for its currently-airing 50th season.

“Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans” has been billed as a celebration of the entirety of the longrunnning competition series, but will that celebration include the return of the family visits?

From spoilers to speculation, here’s everything we know so far.

(SPOILER ALERT!!! This article may contain potential spoilers relating to as-yet unaired episodes of ‘Survivor 50.’).

Jared Fields Teases Return of ‘Survivor’ Family Visit in Now-Deleted Post

For those who may not be aware, CBS officially began filming for the milestone 50th season of “Survivor” last summer.

At the time, fans presumed that, like all other 26-day New Era seasons, the family visit reward would be cut simply for the sake of time – especially considering that the Season 50’s 24-person cast is significantly larger than any other the series has hosted before.

That was, until one returning castaway’s son teased the reward’s long-awaited return on X (formerly Twitter).

In the long-since deleted post, Jared Fields – who CBS fans will remember as Cirie Fields’ youngest son who competed alongside his “Survivor” superstar mom on Season 25 of “Big Brother” in 2023 – seemingly confirmed that the family visits will return for “Survivor 50.”

“Y’all I’m mad as hell my brother doing the family visit this time,” Jared wrote in the post uploaded on June 21, 2025.

According to Reddit sleuths who were carefully documenting the season’s filming schedules, the date allegedly lined up with Day 17 of the competition.

While Season 50’s elimination format has been unpredictable to say the least, Jared’s statement – if true – suggests that his mom, Cirie, could potentially secure her spot in the Final 8 or Final 9 of the competition, or at least long enough to partake in the family visit reward.

That being said, there’s no way to confirm the validity of Jared’s claims just yet. The former “Big Brother” star previously surprised his mom during the family visit reward during her run on “Survivor: Game Changers” in 2017, so he’s certainly aware of the process. If he is telling the truth, it remains to be seen which of Cirie’s other sons – John or Jamil – will be making an appearance during this season’s reward.

At present, there are still 17 castaways remaining on “Survivor 50,” including Cirie, meaning that even if Jared’s deleted post was truthful, we’re still a long way from witnessing the return of the family visit reward.

Find out who makes it through to the next round and whose chances of winning the $1 million goes up in smoke as a brand new episode of “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans” hits CBS screens nationwide on Wednesday, April 1 at 8:00pm ET.
