‘Voice’ Coach Walks Away From Two-Decade Relationship for New Chapter

John Legend is entering a new chapter in his career. The “Voice” coach has officially parted ways with his longtime manager after nearly two decades and signed with Roc Nation, the entertainment company founded by Jay-Z.

The Grammy-winning singer ended his working relationship with manager Ty Stiklorius and her company, Friends at Work, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He will now be managed by Roc Nation CEO Jay Brown, joining a roster that includes Rihanna, Megan Thee Stallion, A$AP Rocky and Lil Uzi Vert.

The timing of the transition is unclear, as Legend was still listed on Friends at Work’s roster as recently as February, and Stiklorius had publicly discussed their partnership earlier this year.

Ending a Nearly 20-Year Partnership

Legend and Stiklorius first began working together in 2006, building one of the longest-standing artist-manager relationships in the music industry. Over the years, their collaboration extended far beyond music.

Together, they launched ventures like Get Lifted Film Co., which has backed projects including “La La Land,” “Rhythm + Flow,” and “Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey,” while also expanding into television, film and philanthropy through John Legend Ventures, per The Hollywood Reporter.

In a statement, Stiklorius reflected on their time working together, calling it “a lifetime in this business” and emphasizing the creativity, trust and ambition that defined their partnership. She confirmed she will continue working with Legend on their business ventures, while handing over music management responsibilities to Roc Nation.

Despite the shift, she made it clear she remains one of his biggest supporters moving forward.

A New Era With Roc Nation

Legend’s move to Roc Nation marks a significant shift, but also a full-circle moment in his career. According to Hot 97, he has long been connected to the Roc ecosystem through early collaborations with Kanye West and his work with G.O.O.D. Music.

Now, the partnership becomes official as he aligns with one of the most influential companies in the industry. Roc Nation, founded by Jay-Z, represents some of the biggest names in music and continues to expand its presence across entertainment and business.

The transition comes as Legend is currently on his “A Night of Songs & Stories Tour,” which began in mid-March and runs through May, marking the start of this new chapter while he remains active on the road.

Since breaking out with his 2004 debut album “Get Lifted,” Legend has built a career that includes 13 Grammy Awards and major hits like “All of Me” and “Like I’m Going to Lose You.”

As he moves forward with new management, the shift signals a fresh phase in his career while maintaining the long-standing partnerships that helped shape his path.

“I’m proud of the work John and I did together that was rooted in creativity, trust, love and ambition.”
