Josh Duhamel Reveals Unexpected Role in Christina Aguilera’s 1999 Music Video

Actor Josh Duhamel first found acclaim in soap operas, starring as Leo du Pres in “All My Children.” He’s since worked on television series such as “Las Vegas” and numerous movies, including starring in four “Transformers” films. But do fans know that his first major gig in Hollywood was starring in a music video?

In a recent interview with “Pause Rewind,” Duhamel revealed that his first time being on the set of a large production was for former “The Voice” coach Christina Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle” music video in 1999. Can fans spot him?

Josh Duhamel Shares Hidden Cameo in Christina Aguilera’s ‘Genie in a Bottle’ Music Video

Josh Duhamel recently spoke with “Pause Rewind” host Kevin Zelman, where he shared a very surprising fact about his start in Hollywood.

When Zelman mentioned that Duhamel’s “first on-screen role” was in Christina Aguilera’s 1999 “Genie in a Bottle” music video (the songstress’s debut single), Duhamel shared more insight into how he found himself working as an extra for the iconic pop singer’s video.

“That was a long time ago. That was one of the first times I was ever on set, honestly,” he began. “And, I was like, ‘Whoa, this is unbelievable.'”

Duhamel also shared the audition process, admitting that he went in for the lead male role, “I remember meeting Christina, auditioning. Clearly, I didn’t make much of an impression, and I felt like it was going to be a big deal.”

“But, you know, I’m in it for like, literally, less than a second,” he added. But if you blink, you’ll miss it,” he added.

“The video, for those of you who have never seen it, it’s been 20 years… A group of guys crash Christina’s slumber party. I auditioned for the guy who was pursuing Christina. I ended up getting one of the guys who was pursuing one of her friends,” he said.

Duhamel wasn’t exaggerating about how blink-and-you-miss-it his cameo really is. Fans can spot him in a yellow shirt while driving with friends to meet up with Aguilera’s girlfriends, and again briefly as he hops a fence and sprints toward the beach.

Duhamel Also Starred in a Donna Summer Music Video

While Duhamel wasn’t the leading man in Aguilera’s debut music video, he did score the lead in a Donna Summer music video.

The “Safe Haven” actor appeared in the 1999 video for Summer’s pop song, “I Will Go with You (Con te partiro).” In the video, Duhamel shares intimate moments with a woman, passionately kissing her as the two watch a classic film, one in which they are the stars.

Appearing on “The Rich Eisen Show” in 2022, his role in the music video was brought up by the host, who shared, “You were an extra in a Donna Summer music video. Is that true?”

Duhamel then jokingly corrected him, saying, “Uh, false. I was not. I was, I was the lead in that, man.”

“It was about this lover and this love thing between two people. I was an extra in a Christina Aguilera video. I auditioned to be the lead in that, and I was the extra in that,” he shared.
