As a new crew of onscreen lifeguards slip on the red swimsuits and dive into the chilly water in order to bring back “Baywatch,” the original series’ star, David Hasselhoff, 73, has just been spotted out for the first time in months. The actor’s appearance comes “after he underwent replacement surgery on his knee and hip,” according to The Daily Mail.
Although Hasselhoff needed some assistance during the outing from his wife, Hayley Roberts, 45, the Mail has been told that “the actor’s health is actually improving.”
Hasselhoff Was Spotted on a Hike in Calabasas
While fans might expect to see Hasselhoff on the red carpet — or on a beach — he was recently spotted getting some exercise as he recovers from the surgery.
“The ‘Baywatch’ icon, 73, and the model, 45, went hiking in Calabasas, California, on Monday,” according to Page Six. “Hasselhoff dressed comfortably to enjoy the outdoors, wearing a white t-shirt, loose black athletic pants and a baseball cap to shield himself from the sun. He also sported black glasses and used two hiking poles to navigate the terrain. Roberts matched him in a plain white t-shirt, a teal baseball cap and black leggings.”
The Daily Mail also notes that while Hasselhoff “appeared to be hiking off a trail and into an area full of tall grasses,” he seemed “to still need some assistance from his wife.” Along with the fact that, “at one point his wife grasped his arm as if to steady him,” she was also “spotted at another moment standing behind her husband and placing her hands on his sides to seemingly support him.”
Hasselhoff Was Previously ‘Spotted In a Wheelchair’
Hasselhoff “made headlines … when he was spotted in a wheelchair at two separate airports,” Us Weekly reported on May 7, 2025. His representative told Us, “He was seen in a wheelchair because he’s having a knee replacement surgery next week.”
Us notes that Hasselhoff “was seen being pushed in a wheelchair on Monday, May 5, alongside airport attendants in both Cancun, Mexico, and upon his return to Los Angeles, according to photos obtained by the Daily Mail.”
“The pictures showed Hasselhoff in what appeared to be a somewhat frail state, which caused some fans to worry about his health,” Us explained. “The wheelchair incident also came just two months after Hasselhoff’s ex-wife Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff died at age 62, bringing the Baywatch alum and his family back into the spotlight.”
