As more and more details about the upcoming “Baywatch” reboot series get released, the more it’s clear that Fox is pulling out all the stops to make it a hit.
Previously, the series, which is set for the 2026 – 2027 season, cast “Arrow” star Stephen Amell as the lead, playing Baywatch Captain Hobie Buchannon. And, most recently, another familiar name was announced as part of the cast. According to Variety, “Pretty Little Liars” alum Shay Mitchell will also be in the reboot.
Shay Mitchell Is Officially Joining the ‘Baywatch’ Reboot
GettyPer the outlet, Mitchell, who’s is also the founder of travel gear and accessories brand Béis, has signed up to join the reboot series. She will be playing Trina, a former lawyer who walked away from a white-shoe law firm to become a full-time lifeguard.
“Trina is the sharpest mind on Baywatch,” the character description reads. “Passionate and dedicated, she tends to follow her heart… even if she often uses her considerable intelligence to second guess herself.”
In addition to “Pretty Little Liars,” some of Mitchell’s previous acting projects include “Something From Tiffany’s,” “Dollface,” and “You.” She’s also a proud mom to her two daughters, Atlas Noa, born on October 2019 and Rome, born on May 2022, with her partner, Matte Babel.
Shay Mitchel Isn’t the Only Exciting Addition to ‘Baywatch’
GettyJust a few days before Mitchell’s casting announcement, another casting update made a splash. As it turns out, model Brooks Nader will be making her official acting debut in the series.
She will be a series regular on the show as Selene, a “sharp-tongued Captain of the Zuma beach lifeguards.”
“While she is excellent at her job, she and Baywatch Captain Hobie Buchannon have a very different approach to saving lives that is a constant source of friction,” reads the description of Nader’s character.
“Never on good terms, their relationship only goes downhill after Hobie brings his daughter Charlie [Jessica Belkin] onto his team… and it becomes clear that their rivalry goes much deeper than lifeguarding,” it concludes.
In addition to Mitchell, Nader, Amell and Belkin, other cast members include Hassie Harrison as Nat, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad and David Chokachi, who is reprising his original role of Cody Madison.
The reboot series was officially slated in the fall of 2025, with Amell and Harrison joining the project in early 2026. The synopsis suggests that the show will be similar to the long-running original series that aired for 11 seasons starting in 1989.
“Fans can expect all the adrenaline-fueled rescues, tangled relationships, complicated chemistry and beachside heroics that defined the original — now with an entirely new cast, contemporary trappings, tensions and challenges, and a renewed mission to protect Southern California’s shoreline,” the official blurb reads.
