Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are a rarity among Hollywood couples, proving that love can last in an industry often associated with short-lived romances and highly publicized divorces.
Bacon and Sedgwick met on the set of the 1987 TV movie “Lemon Sky” and wed the following year. Welcoming two children, Travis Bacon and Sosie Bacon, who have both followed in their parents’ footsteps, the couple recently celebrated nearly four decades of marriage.

On September 4, the “Footloose” actor took to Instagram to mark the special occasion, sharing a photo of the longtime couple smiling big and sitting together in the backseat of a car. Sedgwick looked stunning in a beautiful gown, while Bacon sported a classic suit and tie.
“38 years with my love,” Bacon captioned the sweet photo.
Bacon and Sedgwick have been very open about sharing what makes their marriage so successful. While speaking to People in 2023 to honor their 35th anniversary, Sedgwick shared that it was a mix of having a great sense of humor and being each other’s biggest supporters.
“We’ve always been each other’s biggest supporters and fans,” she said, adding, “A sense of humor is crucial. He is very freaking funny.”
Meanwhile, Bacon appreciates the time the couple have to themselves when they aren’t working. “To me, walking down the street together just shooting the [expletive] in the middle of the night still feels like a nice place to be.”
The Bacon Family’s Rare Outing to Promote ‘Family Movie’
GettyThe Bacon family made a rare public appearance together while promoting their upcoming horror comedy, “Family Movie.” The film brings the entire family together on screen, starring Bacon, Sedgwick, and their two adult children, Travis Bacon and Sosie Bacon.
The foursome posed together on the red carpet at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin in March before reuniting for another family appearance at the 12 Annual Bentonville Film Festival in Arkansas.
Working with her parents reminded Sosie of the first time she ever worked with her A-list dad in the film “Loverboy” when she was just 11. She told People, “He directed me in ‘Loverboy,’ which I did when I was 11, and actually initially I was like, ‘I’m not doing that movie,’” Sosie said. “Thanks for the offer. I’m good. I want to stay in school. I’m 11.”
She continued, “And then he was like, ‘No, come on, just do it.’ So I ended up doing it. It was a lot of fun, and I think he’s great to work with. They both are. They’re very respectful of your own process as an actor. They are both actors, so it’s a lot easier to communicate, and I just had a great time then and now.”
Working alongside her kids on ‘Family Movie,’ Sedgwick detailed that it was “better than I could have imagined.”
“I’ve seen Kevin on set — I’ve seen the way he conducts himself on set, but watching the kids and the way they conducted themselves just as humans and colleagues and artists?” she said. “It’s very rare that, as a parent, especially of an adult child, you get to watch them in the world and how they behave with other people. They just behaved so well!”
