Original “Baywatch” Stars Reunite on the Beach for Series Reboot

The beach is officially back open.

Original “Baywatch” stars Michael Bergin, David Chokachi and Kelly Packard reunited on the sand while filming scenes for Fox’s upcoming “Baywatch” reboot in Venice Beach, California, and longtime fans are already loving the nostalgic comeback.

According to People, the trio appeared to reprise their original roles while filming beach scenes together on May 27. Chokachi returned as Cody Madison, Bergin stepped back into the role of Jack “J.D.” Darius and Packard once again suited up as April Giminski.

The cast looked right at home back on the beach nearly three decades later. Packard, 51, was spotted in a green bikini while filming, Chokachi, 58, wore blue swim trunks and Bergin, 57, rocked red floral-print swim shorts. At one point, the actors were seen carrying surfboards, taking selfies and even doing pushups together in the sand.

Fans quickly reacted online after photos from the set surfaced, per Entertainment Tonight, with many pointing out how good the original cast still looks.

“Dang!! They look good!!!!” one commenter wrote.

Another added, “I approve.. Nostalgia!”

“Cody is still ripped 27 years later,” another fan joked.

Others were already hoping for even more original cast cameos. “I hope David Hasselhoff appears in the reboot even if it’s just a cameo,” one commenter wrote.

David Chokachi’s Character Is Returning in a Bigger Way

Chokachi’s return had already been confirmed earlier this year, with new details revealing that Cody Madison now runs a beachside bar-and-grill called The Shoreline. While he is no longer a full-time lifeguard, the character still occasionally throws on the famous red trunks and helps mentor the younger generation.

The reboot itself centers around Stephen Amell’s character Hobie Buchannon, the son of David Hasselhoff’s legendary “Baywatch” character Mitch Buchannon. Per the official synopsis, Hobie’s life gets turned upside down when the daughter he never knew he had suddenly arrives hoping to follow in the family business and become a Baywatch lifeguard.

Jessica Belkin stars as Hobie’s daughter Charlie Vale, while Livvy Dunne plays junior lifeguard Grace and Brooks Nader stars as Selene, a rival Zuma Beach captain.

The new cast also includes Shay Mitchell, Noah Beck, Hassie Harrison, Luke Eisner and Thaddeus LaGrone.

The Reboot Is Leaning Into Classic “Baywatch” Energy

Fox has already started teasing the reboot with new footage that fully embraces the original series’ signature style.

According to TMZ, the first teaser featured Brooks Nader and Livvy Dunne running on the beach in the franchise’s iconic red swimsuits alongside dramatic rescue shots and plenty of slow-motion moments. Stephen Amell was also shown sprinting shirtless across the sand carrying a rescue buoy.

The Hollywood Reporter later shared that Amell posted the teaser himself on Instagram with the caption, “I dream in slow motion.”

The outlet also reported that the reboot will feature the tagline “same beach, new blood” while still keeping the franchise’s familiar mix of romance, beach rescues and drama. Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn described “Baywatch” as a “huge, huge priority” for the network ahead of its planned January 2027 debut.

The original “Baywatch” premiered in 1989 and ran for 11 seasons through 2001, turning stars like David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra into global pop culture icons.

Electra recently teased to TMZ that she may also be open to making a cameo appearance in the reboot, joking that she can still pull off the franchise’s famous slow-motion run.

The new “Baywatch” reboot is expected to premiere on Fox in January 2027.
