Former ‘The Voice’ Coach to Perform at Upcoming Music Festival

It seems like this year’s festival season just got way more exciting. Christina Aguilera, powerhouse singer and former “The Voice” coach; is officially headed to Portola 2025. She gave the news to her fans with a playful Instagram post: “2 weeks to @portolafestival 😛 see you there xx.”

That’s basically code for: get ready, because the pier in San Francisco is about to hear some serious vocal runs. The two-day event hits September 20 & 21, 2025. (Oh, and head’s up… Portola is a 21+ festival, so you’ll need a valid ID to join the fun.)

With Christina on the lineup, it feels like a whole new layer of nostalgia is coming to one of the Bay’s most unique music festivals.

A Pop Queen Among DJs?

Portola usually leans heavy into electronic, dance, and house, so Christina’s slot immediately jumps out. Let’s be real; seeing her name next to DJs and producers might have surprised some people, but in the best way. She’s a living legend who can belt ballads one second and bring the sass with songs like “Dirrty” the next.

Outlets like EDM.com even called her one of the most “surprising bookings” this year, pointing out how her vocal firepower is set to shake things up in a crowd that usually expects deep beats and synth drops. Honestly, it’s the curveball none of us knew we needed.

What Makes Portola So Different

If you’ve never been, Portola isn’t your average grassy field music fest. Pier 80, its home turf, is a massive working cargo terminal that basically transforms into an industrial wonderland for two days. Picture huge cranes, waterfront views, and a vibe that feels half warehouse rave, half open-air party. KQED described the setup as “between a big naval ship and a big crane,” which sounds wild, but it totally works.

This year’s lineup is stacked too: LCD Soundsystem, Moby, the Prodigy, plus the debut of the immersive “Despacio” audio experience (seen below).

Christina’s name sitting alongside those heavyweights is proof Portola knows how to mix things up. Between the techno legends and her unmistakable voice, the energy is going to be unreal.

Fans Are Already Hyped

And let’s not forget the fans. Over on Reddit, one fan was concerned to see her in the lineup saying, “I don’t understand Christina. At least the more pop-leaning artists we have had in the past dabbled in electronic music in some way…Christina Aguilera is a singer.”

But another Portola-goer summed up the general mood perfectly: “Vocally, she is absolutely incredible and always has been. I would never pay to go to a Christina concert by itself, but at Portola it is going to be a blast.”

Then someone else jumped in with this gem of information:

That’s the sweet spot, right? A little millennial nostalgia, a little unexpected crossover energy, and a whole lot of potential for everyone to lose their voices screaming “Genie in a Bottle” between DJ sets.

Christina Aguilera at Pier 80? Yep, you read that right. If you needed a sign to grab your ticket, consider this it. Portola 2025 is shaping up to be one of those “you had to be there” weekends; and Christina’s set will no doubt be one of the highlights.
