“Euphoria” actress Barbie Ferreira made a striking appearance at the Academy Women’s Luncheon in Los Angeles this week. She showcased a dramatically transformed figure that captured attention on the red carpet. The 28-year-old star radiated confidence as she posed for photographers at the star-studded event held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
Ferreira commanded attention in a hip-hugging pink mini dress. The outfit featured ruching down the center and delicate frills along the hem and sleeves. The eye-catching ensemble highlighted her recent physical transformation. Her new look has been gradually revealed through social media posts and public appearances over the past year.
The HBO actress completed her glamorous look with embellished black heels, a coordinating pink manicure, and burgundy lip color that perfectly complemented her outfit. Her brunette hair was styled in soft, natural waves that elegantly framed her face.
The Academy Women’s Luncheon brought together numerous celebrities, including Kristen Stewart, Kate Hudson, Alicia Silverstone, and Sarah Paulson. Ferreira’s appearance at the prestigious gathering marks another milestone in her ongoing career evolution.
Her transformation has been particularly noticeable since her departure from “Euphoria” in 2022, when she announced her exit from the popular HBO series after four years as Kat Hernandez.
From ‘Euphoria’ Exit to Fashion Week Success
Ferreira’s career trajectory took an interesting turn following her decision to leave “Euphoria.” In a candid interview on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, she explained her reasoning for departing the series. “I don’t think there was a place for her to go,” she said of her character. “I think there were places she could have gone. I just don’t think it would have fit into the show.”
She further elaborated, stating, “I really wanted to be able to not be the fat best friend. I don’t want to play that, and I think they didn’t want that either.” The actress described the departure as a “mutual decision” between Ferreira and series creator Sam Levinson.
Since leaving the show, Ferreira has embraced new opportunities in both acting and modeling. Most notably, she walked the runway at the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in October. It marked her biggest catwalk appearance to date. “That was just not in my head at all to walk a runway, period, especially the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which is the biggest show,” she told People Magazine about the opportunity.
For the Victoria’s Secret show, she strutted down the catwalk wearing a red bra and matching underwear layered under an oversized jean jacket adorned with mini denim angel wings. “what a crazy side quest. got to be an angel for the day 🪽,” she wrote on Instagram following the show.
Building on Early Modeling Success
Ferreira’s return to high-profile modeling builds on her earlier career foundation. According to L’Officiel USA, she first gained recognition through a hard-earned American Apparel campaign when she was just 16 years old, after finding the casting call online and submitting photos.
Her modeling portfolio expanded to include campaigns for major brands like Jacquemus, Adidas, Becca Cosmetics, and H&M. She also appeared in a particularly viral Aerie campaign featuring unedited photos, helping expand opportunities for diverse body types in fashion.
Currently, Ferreira is focusing on film projects, including the indie romantic comedy “Mile End Kicks.” The movie recently received critical acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival and earned a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
