Eric Roberts Squashes Feud Rumors About His Famous Sister, Julia Roberts

For years, rumors have circulated about the Roberts siblings. While Julia Roberts has had an iconic film career, her older brother Eric Roberts has had much smaller acting roles.

Over time, many have speculated that the siblings can’t get along and won’t be seen in public with one another. Thankfully, it seems that was just another Hollywood rumor.

In a new interview, Eric Roberts addressed the negative rumors and put them to bed once and for all.

Eric Roberts Gushes Over His Younger Sister Julia

Julia and Eric Roberts aren’t the only stars in their family. Eric is also the father of Emma Roberts, known for her roles in “American Horror Story” and “Scream Queens.”

There’s been plenty of public scrutiny about the Roberts family dynamic, but Eric wants everyone to know that they all get along. They have spats like any other family, but at the end of the day, they’re still there for one another.

“It’s not true. It never was true. We’re fine,” the “Dancing With the Stars” alum told the “It Happened in Hollywood” podcast, regarding the salacious rumors. “We have disagreements, as people do, but we like and respect each other very much.”

Eric Roberts went on to gush about his sister, noting that he believes she’s not only a “wonderful actor,” but a “wonderful human” as well.

He went on to add that he thinks his younger sister is a great mother, noting, “That’s the hardest job there is.”

“She’s a cool chick and I like her,” Eric admitted on the podcast.

The Actor Almost Quit Acting After a Tragic Accident

During the podcast interview, Eric Roberts also discussed the horrifying car accident that left him in a coma. It impacted every area of his life and even left him wondering if he could continue acting.

“And, so I thought my days as an actor were probably over, if not very much numbered, and I was going through the deepest depression I’ve ever had in my life,” the 70-year-old bravely admitted.

Thankfully, the actor managed to overcome his personal struggles with the help of the legendary Bob Fosse. Although he wasn’t particularly interested in the role, Eric Roberts auditioned anyway out of respect for Fosse.

“I didn’t like it because it seemed too black and white to me,” he shared. “So I was not really interested in it as a script, but I was interested in it because of Bob Fosse.”

The film, “Star 80,” eventually cast Eric Roberts and allowed him to rediscover his love for acting. Fans are thankful he managed to bounce back even after the tragedy and continue pushing for success.
