Several A-list actresses rushed to comfort “Trivia at St. Nick’s” actress Tammin Sursok, who first gained fame on the long running Australian soap opera “Home and Away” playing Dani Sutherland, after she posted a tearful video about facing the bitter disappointment of recently losing out on a leading TV role.
The 42-year-old said in the emotional clip, “I just got word I didn’t get an acting job that I was down to the wire for the lead on a TV show. This happens a lot.” She paused to wipe her tears before saying, “The amount of times it’s been like me and another girl, my whole career. It’s just harder than you think. And people think like ‘Oh, just get on a show. Or get on- like, do a film.’ It’s like, not that easy. And for me it’s always down to the last two. Yeah.”
In the caption, she wrote, “Never gets easier.”
Sursok’s career trajectory has had its ups and downs. After starring as Dani Sutherland from 2000 to 2004, she had another high-profile gig with her run as Jenna Marshall on the ABC family teen hit “Pretty Little Liars.” She appeared in the recurring role for the show’s first 5 seasons, before coming back for season 7. “Hannah Montana” fans will recognize the brunette beauty as Jackson’s girlfriend, Siena. Her 8-episode arc lasted from 2010 to 2011.
Jennifer Lopez & Other Stars Reached Out to Comfort Tammin Sursok
In the comments, several A-listers reached out to cheer Sursok up and offer words of encouragement. Jennifer Lopez wrote, “Never give up,” while “Scandal” star Kerry Washington told her, “This is soooo hard. I’ve been there. So many times. Take care of yourself. When they make another choice… Remember to choose YOURSELF! And be kind to your inner artist. This is when she needs you most!”
Jennifer Garner chimed in, “Know this feeling like the back of my hand. Hang in there, we’ll celebrate when it’s your turn,” while Kristin Chenoweth left heart and sparkle emojis to show support.
“The Real Housewives of Orange County” star Heather Dubrow wrote, “I feel you sister – sending you love and I know you know this … but your next big thing is out there.”
Sursok also received a heartfelt note from her “Home and Away” costar Christie Hayes, who played Kirsty Sutherland on the soap. She wrote, “I’m so sorry honey, be so proud of yourself for how close you got, and remember you are already a leading lady – you have been the lead on TV shows before, you will be the lead on the next one. This was still a huge win even though it hurts. You’re amazing xxx.”
Tammin Sursok Recently Reflected On Her Younger Years
A week before she opened up about the disappointing audition, Sursok partook in the viral “What Were You Like in the ’90s?” social media trend. She reflected, “The ’90s changed my life” and shared a slideshow of throwback snaps.

That’s such a lovely thing to see happening – it’s great when people offer genuine support like that.
