The landmark “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans” season has now been running for several weeks and viewers have already had the opportunity to see lots of shocks and twists. There’s also been plenty of high-profile eliminations so far, including fan-favorite Dee Valladares.
The “Survivor” star has since opened up about a conflict she had with a fellow contestant during filming and how it has seemingly continued once the pair returned back to their homes.
Dee Valladares Says She and Charlie Davis Aren’t on Good Terms
During a pivotal moment before he was eliminated from the show, Charlie Davis was at the receiving end of what he felt was a hurtful comment from Valladares. After a fumbled attempt to get the other players to turn on Rizo Velovic, Valladares said of Davis, “I actually thought Charlie was the most dangerous player here, but I actually think he’s the dumbest player here.”
This prompted Davis to later say that the comment wasn’t “super fun to hear” following his exit. It seems, though, as if the two castaways haven’t been fully able to patch up their relationship after leaving the Fiji island.
While taking part in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Valladares was asked about whether she has spoken to Davis since making those comments. Her response suggested the pair are not exactly on friendly terms.
“With Charlie, I reached out to him, but I reached out to him in December,” she explained. “We finished in July, but when I landed after July, I had just finished filming ‘The Challenge.’ So ‘The Challenge’ was about to air. I’m getting bombarded with promo. Now I’m dealing with 30 other people, even worse drama than what this is.”
She continued, “He never responded back. And at one point, I’m like: Let me just crack jokes. And I’m like, ‘All right, if you hate me, just say that.’ Like, I was just cracking jokes. And it finally got to the point where I’m like, ‘All right, what the heck is happening? What’s going on? Like, just let’s talk about it. ‘ And, you know, he told me he was hurt and blah, blah, blah, and we talked about it and we’ve had a few text exchanges, but it doesn’t seem like anything’s gonna come from it.”
Valladares Says Some Players Are Not ‘Enjoying the Experience’
Valladares believes that some people are taking the experience too seriously in the current season and she enjoys striking up friendships with those who can separate actions in the reality television series to those that happen in the real world.
“I love to play the game with people who, when you get out of the game, you can laugh,” she said. “Not just at what people are saying, but at yourself, too. And this is a season where a lot of people are not…. It doesn’t seem like they’re enjoying the experience.”
