Bravo patriarch Andy Cohen shared his initial reaction to the devastating news that “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Mary Cosby’s son passed away.
“Devastatingly sad news out of SLC. This is every parent’s worst nightmare. My heart is broken for Mary, and I am sending all my love to her and Robert Sr.,” Cohen shared via Threads on Wednesday, February 25.
Mary Cosby’s Son Robert Jr. Passed Away
Cohen’s reaction comes shortly after news of Robert’s passing broke.
TMZ reported that the 23-year-old died Monday in Utah. His cause of death remains unknown, but according to TMZ, police responded to a possible overdose.
“[It] turned into a death investigation upon arrival,” the outlet revealed.
Police in Salt Lake City told TMZ that they responded to a call for a “full arrest/medical emergency.”
“Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord,” the reality star told TMZ. “Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”
Robert Cosby Jr. Had a Troubled Past
The news of his passing comes just weeks after he settled his divorce from ex-wife Alexiana Smokoff.
The pair called it quits last year and Alexiana filed for divorce in November. TMZ reported at the time that the divorce filing was “under seal.”
“There’s no way of knowing the reason for the split … ditto for any details on what she’s looking for in terms of spousal support, division of property, etc,” the outlet revealed.
Their divorce was finalized on February 2, Us Weekly reported.
In addition to his recent divorce, Robert was arrested back in September after an incident that took place at Alexiana’s home.
“The arrested person has previously been notified by both his wife and the owner of the home that he was not welcome at the residence,” according to the arrest report obtained by Us Weekly. “Both individuals showed me text message conversations which indicated he was not allowed in the home, which the arrested person had responded to in acknowledgment.”
Alexiana “[feared] for her safety,” the report added. After being released from jail, Robert beelined it for his ex’s home again.
He was released again earlier this month after pleading guilty to assault in December, according to NBC News.
