Mercedes Javid is embracing a new chapter in life with honesty and strength. The “Valley: Persian Style” star recently opened up about her decision to file for divorce from Tommy Feight after seven years of marriage, calling it an act of “self-preservation.”

“Filing was a choice out of self-preservation and self-worth,” Javid told The Daily Dish in January. “You can choose that and love someone at the same time and prioritize your baby boy, which we’re both doing really well. I’m really impressed with how well we’re holding it down in this new chapter.”
Though the couple’s divorce has not yet been finalized, Javid remains committed to a peaceful transition and a focus on family. During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” on Jan. 8, she confirmed that her love for Feight hasn’t faded.
“I didn’t leave the marriage because I stopped loving him,” she said. “I love him, and he’s the love of my life.”
Javid revealed that July 4 marked a pivotal turning point in her marriage, describing it as the moment she realized the relationship was no longer working. “I felt like on the 4th of July I might have hit my last straw,” she said, though she did not elaborate on what specifically prompted the realization.

While navigating separation, Javid and Feight have worked together to prioritize their 6-year-old son, Shams Francis Feight. The Bravo personality, who filed for divorce on Oct. 20, 2025, continues to emphasize her son’s well-being.
“Shams is our number one priority,” she said on “WWHL.” On her podcast “Till the Dirt,” Javid admitted the transition has been emotional. “It has been hard because I’m afraid of the future, of what Shams is thinking and feeling,” she said.
Tommy also shared his thoughts on co-parenting during a December episode of “Till the Dirt,” expressing his desire to shield Shams from emotional fallout.
“Going through this, I’m like, ‘Oh man, I’m a big failure,’” he said. “I just like having him close… especially these last couple of weeks, as the new normal becomes normal.”

Though Tommy acknowledged the strain, he admitted uncertainty about how to move forward. “We’ve been together for 10 years. What are we gonna improve on?” he asked. “I’m not gonna have someone tell me that I need to change.”
