Noah Cyrus honored Dolly Parton with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram on Thursday, August 27, two days after the country music icon’s death was announced on August 25. Parton died from cancer, which she battled privately, and was 80 years old.

Cyrus, who appeared on the Season 28 finale of “The Voice” and served as a guest mentor on “American Idol” Season 21, is the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus. For her tribute, she shared several throwback photos of Parton, including a short video clip of her sister, Miley Cyrus, singing onstage with the “9 to 5” singer. In the caption, she shared her thoughts and revealed what Parton meant to her.
“I wanted the first words you heard to come from miley, and now that she’s spoken, i’d like to share a few words about dolly,” she wrote. “Dolly was singular, one of a kind. dolly was a rainbow to our world for nearly six decades, and no one could ever come nor will ever come close to replacing her. her impact on the world, and on me as an artist, is unparalleled. she was an angel among us who not only wrote songs that spoke to us all, but whose kindness, compassion, and empathy toward those who truly needed it were at the core of who dolly was.”

Noah praised Parton for staying true to her roots and for her dedication to kindness and helping others. “Her beautiful relationship with my family, especially my sister, is one i will be grateful for my entire life,” Noah shared. “I am so grateful to her for inspiring me to be who i am, wear those wigs, have those long nails, to write my stories, and to heal people through music.”
Noah reflected on her loss, but also her gratitude. “I am heartbroken she is gone, but only physically. she came into this world, shared her light, and changed it forever,” she wrote. “She will now live in our hearts, and her music will continue to be a friend when lonely, and to celebrate with happiness. It will inspire and encourage young songwriters that will discover and learn from the Great Dolly Parton.”

Noah ended her tribute by saying she would always love Parton, and added three butterfly emojis. The butterfly became a powerful symbol for Parton, and she used it in her music, her fashion choices, and the Dollywood logo. She even had a butterfly tattoo.
Fans reacted to the post by sharing their condolences and sending well-wishes to Noah and her sister. “It was very thoughtful of you to give Miley the chance to share a post first.
