Derek Hough Shares Hilarious Backstage Moment With Len Goodman
On November 10, Hough took to Instagram to pay tribute to Goodman, who passed away in 2023. He served as a judge on “DWTS” for 31 seasons.
“As we approach the 20th anniversary episode, I can’t help but think back fondly to the times I spent backstage with Len,” Hough wrote.
He added, “Feeling nostalgic and so grateful for the moments we shared. The sentimental moments, and the playful moments.”
In the clip, Hough asks, “Len, so what did you leave me here?”
“Well, I didn’t know. I thought I needed to leave you a bit of good advice for the remaining 20-odd seasons that you’re going to be doing this,” Goodman says. “So I left you this.”
The video reveals a signed framed photo of Goodman with his words of wisdom: “Derek, remember, technique is like peeing down your leg — you think it’s hot, but nobody else does! Warmest regards, Len Goodman.”
After reading it, Hough says, “This is amazing. I love you Len.”
“Well, I love you too,” Goodman responds. “It’s been so much fun.”
Former “Dancing With the Stars” host Tom Bergeron, who will serve as guest judge on the November 11 episode, commented, “That lovely man will be front & center on my mind tomorrow. I adored him.”
On August 29, Hough celebrated the show’s milestone anniversary, writing on Instagram, “It’s almost unbelievable to say this, but here we are: 20 years of being part of, in my humble opinion, one of the Greatest Shows Ever Created.”
He continued, “I say that with so much humility and gratitude, because @dancingwiththestars has always been [a] constant source of good ole fashioned family entertainment, bringing the golden era of dance, human spirit, and a whole lot of sparkle to our TV screens.”
