Reigning “Dancing With the Stars” champion Robert Irwin loves educating about animals wherever he goes — even if it’s at a black-tie event.
Irwin regularly invites guests to the Australia Zoo to introduce them to his friends, both furry and scaly. But he’s also not above taking his pals on the road.
In a new social media post, Robert Irwin revealed he brought several reptiles to an awards show. Check out the hilarious clip and what fans had to say.
Robert Irwin Brings Lizards & Snakes to a Black-Tie Event
Robert Irwin has captured the hearts of fans all over the world through his passion for animals. Of course, he feels called to educate people wherever he goes about the importance of protecting wildlife.
“If I’m hosting an awards show, you know I’m bringing some friends 😉” the conservationist captioned a new Instagram clip. “It’s all about sharing the beauty of all our wildlife, even the ones that might seem a little less cuddly.”
“Bring on the animals, let’s go!” Robert excitedly cheered in the video, ripping off his formalwear to reveal his professional khakis underneath. “First of all, we’re starting small with a little blue tongue lizard. Isn’t he cute? He’s very sweet.”
The 22-year-old explained that the lizard is a backyard animal and he wants everyone to treat it with respect, even if it isn’t traditionally adorable. He handed the lizard off to a reluctant guest before introducing a new friend, a children’s python.
“Next up, we’re gonna go with something a little different,” Irwin continued. “This one has far fewer legs because this is a snake! This, of course, is a children’s python. Have a look at him. When he flicks that forked tongue out there, believe it or not, that’s how he smells. So if he comes up to you to say hello, that’s him giving you a little sniff.”
Last but not least, Robert Irwin introduced an olive python, one of Australia’s largest snakes. He placed the python around a guest’s neck as he explained the importance of conservation and kindness to all animals, including reptiles.
“Isn’t he just beautiful? So this is the thing about snakes. That’s what I want to show you. Snakes aren’t out to get you. Even if you’ve never met a snake in your life. They’re very sweet, they’re very passive. They’re an animal to be loved and to be respected. Isn’t that right, mate?”
The guest uttered a nervous “Yep!” as the python slithered around his body.
Fans Praise the Conservationist’s Commitment
Overall, fans loved seeing Robert Irwin excitedly share his reptile friends with attendees. Everyone agreed that Steve Irwin was proudly looking down on his son. Without a doubt, the 22-year-old is carrying on his father’s legacy and passion for wildlife.
“This man is dripping in green flags!!” one fan excitedly wrote in the comments.
“His father would be so proud,” another viewer added.
“Get this man hosting the Oscars 🔥” a viewer suggested.
