Val Chmerkovskiy Opens up About Alix Earle Partnership
Chmerkovskiy and Earle’s partnership has proven to be very successful. The pair has delivered stunning performances week after week and earned a perfect score of 40 out of 40 on the 20th Birthday Party episode on November 11. Despite their success, there has been some chatter about tension between the pair.
In an interview with Parade, published on November 10, Chmerkovskiy discussed his working relationship with Earle and whether there was any truth to the persistent reports that they did not get along.
“I wouldn’t give that much weight that there was some big controversy,” he told the publication. “There’s so many eyeballs on the show right now, and therefore there’s so much more conversation around it, which I love, right? It’s like that double-edged sword. We want to be celebrated and watched and enjoyed by many, many people. That’s why we’re entertaining. But having said that, I’d be very naïve to think that every single thing I’m going to hear is going to be positive or accurate, even.”
How Val Chmerkovskiy & Alix Earle’s Partnership Has Evolved
Chmerkovskiy explained his approach to helping his celebrity contestant learn, and that he was not there to become best friends with someone simply because they were on the show. Instead, he values authenticity and takes pride in having it. “I am not somebody that’s going to become best friends with somebody inauthentically,” he said.
Fans have noticed that Earle and Chmerkovskiy’s relationship has evolved, and they now appear closer and more at ease with each other. This is also something that Chmerkovskiy addressed in the interview, noting how it “took time to build trust” and feel “comfortable.”
He continued, “There’s also a level of respect that I have for Alex, and she has for me, and we have for this process. And I think that’s what people misconstrued in the beginning, is that respect that we have for each other in this process, that we still maintain throughout. But obviously, there’s more warmth and comfort, and I think that’s what people have seen as of late.”
