Heidi Klum wowed fans when she showed up at the 2026 Grammy Awards in a boldly unique dress. Made up of a hard mold of her body, the one-of-a-kind item went “viral,” according to People.
The dress, which was custom-made for the star by German designer Marina Hoermanseder, was certainly eye-catching and undeniably different.
But what happened to the sculptural piece after Klum was done wearing it at the Grammys?

GettyAs for the practicality of the dress, Klum admitted that it was quite difficult to maneuver the red carpet while wearing it.
“It was very hard to walk in it because it is very hard material,” Klum told People while explaining that the dress was made of “leather that is then hardened by lacquering it and spraying it.”
“It’s kind of like an armor piece, front and back. There’s no slit, and so there is just no give. So you can only do baby steps, tiny little baby steps,” she added. “That’s why there’s a lot of fun memes going around now of me running around on the red carpet.”
When it came to putting the dress on and taking it off, Klum noted that it was easier than you might think.
“It had buckles on the side, so it was easy. I had a very super sexy, super tight little dress under it,” she said. “You just hop in on the side. It opens like a clam.”

GettyAlthough Klum’s Grammys dress made waves this year, it turns out that the item has been waiting quite a while for its debut.
“I wanted to wear it already last year,” Klum told People. “Then a different dress came in, and I changed my mind again last minute. So this dress has been waiting the whole year, because I thought this is a true Grammy dress because people are a little bit more expressive there with their fashion.”
Klum also described Hoermanseder as “a real artist of making sculpture dresses to the max.”
“I admire that, and I appreciate the art behind this,” Klum said. “People need to see that there is other fabric out there than just the type of regular fabric that we work with most of the time.”
“I have a show, Project Runway, about fashion and creativity,” the star continued. “So, I feel like it’s my duty to show creativeness within dressmaking.”
