General Hospital” will soon welcome a new cast member. Hallmark fan favorite Jonathan Bennett has joined the ABC soap and will debut very soon.

Jonathan Bennett’s Headed to ‘General Hospital’

Deadline was first to report the exciting casting news. The outlet revealed that Bennett will be playing Joe Fitzpatrick on the ABC soap.

While no details were given on the mystery character of Joe, “General Hospital” fans won’t have to wait too much longer to learn more. Bennett makes his debut in Port Charles during May sweeps.

The powers that be are keeping the specific date under wraps for now. However, “General Hospital” executive producer Frank Valentini did comment on Bennett joining the show.

“We’re so excited to have Jonathan joining our cast. He’s a tremendous talent and will be a fantastic addition to GH,” Valentini shared with Deadline.

This marks Bennett’s second stint in the soap world. Bennett got his acting start as s J.R. Chandler on “All My Children” three years before his breakout role as Aaron Samuels in “Mean Girls”.

Bennett posted his exciting career news on Instagram, sharing the Deadline article with the caption “There’s a new guy in town… @generalhospitalabc.”

Some of Bennett’s Hallmark family popped into the comments to gush over his thrilling news. Bennett’s “The Groomsman” co-stars were quick to comment, with Tyler Hynes leaving a happy face emoji and BJ Britt saying, “Ooooh yeah!!!!! I’m already in front of the TV waiting patiently!!!🥳💚😬.”

The ladies of Hallmark showed up for Bennett, too. Lacey Chabert declared, “Congratulations!!” while Sarah Drew shared, “Sooo excited for you!!!!!”

Even one of his new “General Hospital” co-stars chimed in to welcome Bennett to the show. Braedyn Bruner (Emma) expressed, “You are already such a light! WELCOME 🥳.”

Bennett joins fellow Hallmark stars Cameron Mathison (Drew) and Ryan Paevey (Cassius/Nathan) on the ABC soap, so it will be a bit of a reunion for him.

What Does This Mean for Jonathan Bennett and Hallmark

Even though the actor has been cast on “General Hospital,” he isn’t leaving Hallmark. Over the years, Bennett has become known as “The Gay King of Christmas” for the network, and that won’t change because of his new gig.

Bennett expanded his role with Hallmark last year when he not only starred in “A Keller Christmas Vacation”: but he also produced.

Along with acting and producing, Bennett hosts the Hallmark reality TV show “Finding Mr. Christmas”. Bennett is also big into Hallmark fan events, like the upcoming tour this summer.

  1. Can’t wait to see what exciting part you will play on General Hospital. Now three of my favorite actors will be on a show that I have watched for over 50 years. Welcome to GH.
