Hallmark star Kimberly Williams-Paisley has been married to country music singer Brad Paisley for over 20 years. While they’ve likely endured their fair share of trials and tribulations during that time, they’ve also managed to stay together through thick and thin. Now, Williams-Paisley has revealed the secret to the success of their relationship.
Kimberly Says Jamie Lee Curtis Has a Key Piece of Marriage Advice
During Williams-Paisley’s recent appearance at the ABC/Disney Upfronts event, Us Weekly caught up with the star and after congratulating the actress on her 23rd wedding anniversary which took place on March 15, Us asked her a particular question: “What do you think the secret is to a long-lasting marriage?”
In response, Williams-Paisley offered some wisdom that happened to come from another famous show business figure who has also enjoyed a lengthy marriage, saying, “Jamie Lee Curtis said recently, ‘Don’t leave.'”
Granted, that will certainly do the trick.
Fortunately, after a laugh, Williams-Paisley added a little more, telling Us Weekly, “I think there’s actually, there’s something to that.”
“Like, don’t give up,” she explained. “If the potential is there, then keep at it and there’ll be ups and downs, but ultimately…”
She was sure to also add, “That and a sense of humor.”
Kimberly & Brad Focus ‘on the Laughter’
GettyIf you weren’t aware, Williams-Paisley and her husband’s “decades-long love story began in 1991 — even though they never actually met until 2001,” according to People. “The country music artist first became smitten with Kimberly after watching her play Annie Banks in Father of the Bride.”
It wasn’t until a full decade later that the singer “asked the actress to be in his music video” for the song “I’m Gonna Miss Her” from his album Part II, “and they began dating soon after,” per People. “The couple eventually married in March 2003 and have two sons together: William Huckleberry, born in 2007, and Jasper Warren, born in 2009.”
In April 2021, Williams-Paisley told People that “focusing on the laughter and keeping a sense of play” is “a big part” of her marriage.
At the time, Paisley added, “A lot of married couples would rather do anything but spend the evening together. That’s not the case in our house.”
When asked about what they love about their significant other, Paisley told his wife, “You keep our house afloat — seeing you give birth to two kids and raise a third [himself] is amazing. And you try to do the right thing all the time.”
In turn, Williams-Paisley mentioned her husband’s “gigantic heart,” saying, “You care about all creatures, great and small.”
Paisley also noted, “There’s no substitute for memories and time and having experienced all of this together.”
On their latest anniversary, Williams-Paisley shared a silly photo of the fun-loving pair, and wrote, “23 years today (we think, but math isn’t our strong suit). Find yourself someone you can laugh with, do some good with, and hang on tight with. Then repeat. Happy anniversary @bradpaisley for the twenty-somethingth time. I love you❤️❤️”
