Brian Kleinschmidt and Mika Kleinschmidt seem like an incredible couple, and fans love watching them as co-hosts on HGTV’s “100 Day Dream Home,” but before they were romantically involved, they were in high school together. The pair has reflected on their high school days and how different they were back then.

“We both are very competitive. Looking all the way back to high school, we used to race each other to the lunchroom,” Brian recalled in a video posted on the official HGTV Instagram account on October 14. “We had history class right before lunch, and we would stand by the door. As soon as the bell rang, we took off.”
The video also showed throwback photos from their high school yearbook.
Mika and Brian remembered how they were incredibly competitive and had a desire to win. “We were pushing everybody,” he said. “We were jumping, like, benches.” The pair might have loved competing with each other, but Mika claimed they were “complete opposites.”
After school, the pair went their separate ways, but fate would bring them back together, and they have been married since October 10, 2015. Brian married Ericka Dunlap in 2004. He divorced Dunlap in 2011 and would later reconnect with Mika. Mika had her daughter Jade in 2009, and Brian is now a bonus dad.
In the clip, they also claimed they had their dream job working with HGTV, but Mika revealed that if she weren’t working on the show, she would have a very different career path. “Either an attorney, or, yeah, I think, a musician. But, I don’t know. It seems like a lot of work, going on tour,” she said.

Mika and Brian celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on October 10, and appear to be incredibly happy. Mika highlighted their bond by sharing a video on Instagram. The footage includes throwback clips from throughout their relationship. In the caption, she shared her thoughts. “10 years, one love, and a million moments that make my heart full.” Happy Anniversary to my best friend and sexy man!!!!” she wrote.
