HGTV’s Erin Napier Shares Emotional Update After Family Scare

HGTV star Erin Napier and her family recently had a scare with their family dog, who went missing for days. Thankfully, there was a happy ending for the Napiers. See the “Home Town” star’s update and the sweetest homecoming photo.

Erin Napier Gives Update About Missing Dog

On October 19, Erin took to Instagram to share a sweet photo of her two daughters with their dog. It turns out, the pic captured the happy reunion after their dog was missing.

“Brinkley went missing for 4 days and just when we gave up, he turned up at a Laurel police officer’s house 7 miles from home,” she explained in the caption. “Don’t know if he walked there or hitched a ride but these girls are so happy he’s back.”

Fans flooded the comments section of her post with messages of relief.

Fellow HGTV star Jenny Marrs wrote, “So glad he’s back!!”

One fan noted, “So glad he made it home!! Is Brinkley named after ‘You’ve Got Mail’?”

Another fan wrote, “Those girls must’ve been so sad. Thank God he found his way back to y’all.”

Others commented, “Thank goodness he is home. The girls must be thrilled” and “My heart is so happy for your girls. I can’t imagine how much they missed him.”

“What a wonderful ending to what I’m sure was a very worried time for all of you!” another fan commented.

One of her followers noted, “So wonderful to hear 🥹. What a sweet reunion!”

Erin Napier Shares Her Greatest Fear

During an October 2025 appearance on the “WHOA That’s Good” podcast, Erin’s husband Ben shared that he follows the philosophy of “do the best you can and don’t worry about it, because at the end of the day, everything’s going to be okay.” Erin, however, struggles with that mindset.

“It’s hard. It will be very hard. You will have very hard days,” Ben said. “And Erin, that is probably her greatest fear, is not being prepared and not planning.”

Erin shared that she fears “not seeing it coming … whatever it is.”

The Napiers also dished on the success of their show, with Erin sharing, “We had no expectations, we did it for fun.”

She continued, “It was the most watched pilot in HGTV history, because there was a snowstorm on the east coast and everybody sat at home and watched TV.”

“Then they ordered season one,” Ben added.

Despite their show’s success, Erin said that “nothing is guaranteed.”

“It’s the number one show on the network, and I fully expect to not be renewed every single time,” she added.

  1. Look into having a tracking device put in so that if he goes missing again, a vet will be able to scan him and get him back to your family.

    • IF he gets taken to a vet….Not saying it isn’t a good idea, all of my pets are chipped, but you have to assume that people are going to check as well as take it to someone who can scan for it. If your dog gets stolen instead of lost, which happens frequently, a chip will not help. Maybe just be happy for them? Just a thought….
