‘Bachelor Mansion Takeover’ Star Was ‘Making $200 a Week’ Before Big Break

Bachelor Mansion Takeover” judge Tyler Cameron revealed how his decision to judge the new HGTV series was a “full-circle” moment in his career.

Tyler Cameron’s Life Before ‘The Bachelorette’

Cameron became an instant fan-favorite during Hannah Brown’s season of “The Bachelorette” in 2019. However, shortly before boarding a flight to Los Angeles to try his luck at finding love, Cameron was working for just “$200 a week.”

“Before ‘Bachelor’, I was making $200 a week doing my first construction jobs, trying to build homes and learn,” he told HGTV in an interview published on Wednesday, March 25. “Then, I go on ‘Bachelorette’, and now, full circle, I’m back on an HGTV show doing construction. It’s a wild turn of events and shows how much your life can change.”

The 33-year-old explained that his first job was “building pools for $12 an hour at the Hard Rock Hotel.”

“Then, I worked under my dad’s company, and he didn’t want to pay me at all, so I was just surviving,” he added. “And then ‘Bachelorette’ called, and I was like, ‘They’re not going to pay me either, but I’m going to have way more fun there.'”

Tyler Cameron’s Life After ‘The Bachelorette’

Viewers were heartbroken when Brown accepted Jed Wyatt’s proposal during the season finale over Cameron’s. However, Cameron has gone on to live a full life.

Following his time on the reality dating series, Cameron entered a high-profile romance with supermodel Gigi Hadid. Despite talk of him becoming the next “Bachelor,” Cameron decided to take a different career path.

Cameron now owns a renovation company and works full-time flipping houses in his hometown of Jupiter, Florida.

“I enjoyed being on this side of it because my day job back home is flipping houses,” he told HGTV of judging the competition. “Taking a step back and not having to do it — I was like, ‘This is fantastic. All I have to do is judge you guys?’ Sign me up for next year.”

He added, “When you’re a competitor on the show — whether you’re renovating the mansion or competing on ‘Bachelor’ — you’re on the chopping block. I’d rather be on the other side. It was nice.”

Cameron previously dished about finding his passion in a September 2025 interview with Jason Tartick.

“I think we’re all trying to figure out what our passions are, what our gifts are, and whatnot. And, you know… I think my gift is just being and working with people,” he said.
