Bonnie Tyler’s rep has given fans a health update after she recently underwent emergency surgery in Portugal. The “Total Eclipse of the Heart” singer’s team shared the latest news via her official website, providing a somber update about her health, noting that as of Tuesday, May 12, she “remains seriously ill but stable in hospital in Faro, however her doctors are still positive that she will make a full recovery.”

Tyler’s reps noted that there had been much speculation about her health, including inaccurate reports in the media, which her family felt were “lurid and untrue.” They also shared that the rumors had left Tyler’s loved ones feeling “disappointed.” The statement continues, noting how the family “would like to make it clear that Liberto Mealha does not represent them in any way whatsoever and is not in contact with them regarding Bonnie.”
The statement continues, “When there is any further news of Bonnie’s condition, then we will issue another statement, but ask that the media cease to speculate or publish wild rumors, which simply serve to upset her family, friends, and many fans, and ask again for privacy and decency at this difficult time.”
Fans have been flooding Tyler’s social media with messages of love and support. On a pinned photo of her on Instagram, comments include, “We love you Bonnie! Bonnie Tyler Hospitalized After Emergency Surgery

In a statement on her website, they wrote, “We are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery. The surgery went well, and she is now recuperating. We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery.”
A second health update came two days later, on May 8. Tyler’s representatives thanked fans for their “outpouring of love and well wishes.” The statement continues, “Bonnie has been put into an induced coma by her doctors to aid her recovery. We know that you all wish her well and ask for privacy at this difficult time please. We will issue a further statement when we are able to.”
Tyler has scheduled appearances in Europe throughout 2026, including a concert in Wiesmoor, Germany, on May 30, Entertainment Weekly reports. This date has not been canceled, but her appearance at the SummerLUST Music Festival in Malta has been. More updates about her performances are likely to be shared within the coming days.
