Eminem Celebrates Major Personal Milestone at 53 After Near-Fatal 2007 Health Scare

Eminem is marking a meaningful milestone in his life, celebrating 18 years of sobriety at 53, a moment that reflects both resilience and quiet strength. For the rapper, the milestone carries a deeper weight, shaped by the challenges he has faced and the steady path he has built in the years since.

Eminem Shares Sobriety Milestone With Fans, Receives Heartfelt Support

The rapper shared the update with fans on social media, posting a photo of himself holding a sobriety chip engraved with “XVIII,” a simple yet powerful symbol of the journey he has taken over the years.

The moment was met with an outpouring of support from fans and loved ones, including a heartfelt message from his younger half-brother, Nathan Mathers, highlighting the pride and love surrounding this chapter in his life. He wrote: “proud of you big bro.”

A Turning Point After a Near-Fatal Overdose

Eminem’s journey toward sobriety began after a life-threatening overdose in 2007, a turning point that ultimately led him to rebuild his life with renewed purpose.

Over the years, he has spoken with honesty about that chapter, acknowledging the challenges he faced while also highlighting how far he has come since then.

“The numbers got so high,” he said in an interview with VIBE magazine, as reported by Today.

“I don’t even know what I was taking.”

He later learned that the substances included methadone, a realization that highlighted just how serious the situation had become.

“Had I known it was methadone, I probably wouldn’t have taken it,” he shared, as reported by GMA. “But as bad as I was back then, I can’t even say 100 percent for sure… even when they told me I almost died, it didn’t click.”

Today, that experience stands as a powerful reminder of his resilience, with his journey reflecting growth, self-awareness, and the strength it takes to choose a healthier path forward.

Finding Strength and Stability in Recovery

After seeking treatment in 2008, Eminem began the steady process of rebuilding his life, focusing on both his health and his craft.

He has since reflected on how recovery called for meaningful changes, including creating new routines that supported a healthier way of living.

As per the Guardian, he said, “Unless I was blitzed out of my mind, I had trouble sleeping. So I started running.”

Over time, exercise became a grounding force, helping him find balance and clarity.

“It’s easy to understand how people replace addiction with exercise. One addiction for another, but one that’s good for them.”

That period of growth and self-reflection shaped his 2010 album “Recovery,” a project that not only earned a Grammy Award but also marked a powerful creative and personal turning point.

Family Milestones Add to a Meaningful Chapter

The milestone comes during a season of quiet joy for Eminem, as his family continues to grow, bringing new meaning to his life.

His adopted daughter, Alaina Scott, recently welcomed her first child, sharing the news in a heartfelt message that reflected the depth of her love.

“My heart outside my body. she’s everything and more. Scottie Marie Moeller born 4/14/26. Welcome to the world my sweet darling.”

For Eminem, the moment adds another layer to his journey, as he embraces life not only as a father to Hailie Jade and Stevie Laine, but also as a grandfather, a role he stepped into in 2025, marking a new and meaningful chapter filled with love, family and renewal.
