Harry Styles Ran the Berlin Marathon Using a Fake Name

Harry Styles regularly displays impressive stamina while on stage. However, on Sunday, September 21, he used that stamina to run in the Berlin Marathon. Even more impressive: He ran the marathon in under three hours!

To be exact, he crossed the finish line at 2 hours, 59 minutes and 13 seconds, according to the local newspaper Der Tagesspiegel (via the Associated Press). He did so while wearing sunglasses and a headband along with a blue top, black shorts and pink running shoes.

Beyond that, the “As It Was” singer used a fake name for the marathon, showing up as Sted Sarandos, per ABC News. While that might seem like a random pseudonym, Us Weekly points out that it “appears to be a play on Ted Sarandos, the co-CEO of Netflix.”

Styles Stopped for a Pic With a Paralympic Gold Medal Winner

Styles may have used a fake name to keep a low profile, however, he wasn’t trying to hide his presence. In fact, he was willing to pose for a photo with Richard Whitehead, “a two-time gold medal winner over 200 meters at the Paralympic Games,” according to AP.

“2.58 in Berlin with my mate!! Anyone know him!! 😂,” Whitehead wrote in the caption of an Instagram post featuring the photo. The paralympian’s followers were thrilled by the pic, with one leaving a comment to say, “I know him… ❤️”

“[H]ope you both had the best time, endlessly proud of you both,” someone else wrote. A third follower added, “Two legends!! 🔥🔥”

This Isn’t Styles First Marathon

If you think this sounds familiar, that’s because this isn’t the first time that Styles has participated in a lengthy race. On Saturday, March 1, he ran in the Tokyo Marathon.

That time around, he ran the marathon in 3 hours, 24 minutes and 7 seconds. He also “kept an average pace of 4:51/km and was ranked 6,010 overall,” according to Us Weekly.

“Bro got some serious speed,” a fan noted on Instagram. Another fan commented, saying, “Impressive! He must have the fastest celebrity marathon time?”

There are certainly other celebrity marathon runners that Styles could compete with if he’s interested. Other famous figues are known to enter races around the world, per Runner’s World, including Colin Farrell who has participated in both the 2021 Brisbane Marathon and 2024 Dublin Marathon, Jennifer Connelly who ran the 2024 NYC Marathon and Karlie Kloss who also ran the NYC race but in 2017. That’s not to mention Ryan Reynolds, Cynthia Erivo, Natalie Dormer, Pippa Middleton, Alicia Keys, Ellie Kemper, Diplo, Randall Park, Kevin Hart and plenty of others.
