Marie Osmond Honors Late Brother Alan Osmond After His Passing

Marie Osmond honored her late brother, Alan Osmond, with an emotional tribute following his passing on Monday, April 20.

“Writing about your sibling’s passing is not something easily done. The years and years of memories I have of my big brother Alan could never be written in a few words—it would take volumes—but I shall try,” Marie shared via Instagram one day after her eldest brother’s death.

Marie Osmond Shares Moving Tribute

Marie, the only sister of the late singer, shared a heartfelt tribute to Alan, on Tuesday, April 21.

“As his only sister, I know I had a different relationship with him than he had with his brothers, and I must say I loved that!😄 He was always very protective of me (not so sure I love that one).😂 But he was always there if I needed him!” she wrote. “

Marie continued, “Alan had so many incredible talents, from singing to performing to playing multiple instruments proficiently. He wrote hit records and hit albums, one of my favorites being the concept album ‘The Plan.’ He produced TV shows, large events, and music videos, including my video, ‘No Stopping Your Heart,’ which he directed.”

She went on to explain her brother’s heart, writing, “When asking for advice, he would listen, then share his thoughts that made my life and work more doable.”

“So when my husband and I decided to fly the original four Osmond Brothers to Hawaii to perform together one last time and honor them for starting it all, Alan, with tears in his eyes, said, ‘So you’re producing me now,'” she recalled. “He hugged me and said, ‘Thank you, I get to be on stage one last time with my brothers.’ Then I cried!”

Alan Osmond’s Determination

Alan, who battled Multiple Sclerosis for four decades, persevered through “his physical trials.”

“The determination he manifested, even with all of his physical trials, to stand up and out of his wheelchair and be next to his brothers was simply unbelievable!!!” Marie shared.

The “Paper Roses” artist, who had a remarkable career has half of the sibling duo, Donny and Marie, gushed about her late brother’s “devotion and love for God and family.”

“The last thing he said to me was, ‘I can’t wait to see brother Wayne, so we can be missionary companions together and start preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who never had the opportunity to hear his message of peace and hope in this life,'” she shared. “That’s my brother Alan!! I love you so very much and will miss you dearly.💔”

Alan Osmond Tragically Passes Away

Alan was the eldest of the famous Osmond siblings. At just 12 years old, he “became a leader” of the family band, forming a barbershop quartet with brothers Wayne, Merrill, and Jay.

Following Alan’s passing at age 76, Merrill shared his final memory with his brother.

“In a tender moment I will never forget, he leaned close and whispered something into my ear,” Merrill shared of their final days together. “He said, ‘Merrill, you and I worked side by side. We created, we produced, we directed… we gave our hearts to The Plan with Wayne. Please… do something with it. Let people know what we were trying to say.’ I want you to know, his request will be honored.”

Alan leaves behind a wife of 50 years, Suzanne Pinegar, and their eight sons. He is also survived by the rest of the Osmond siblings, Marie, Donny, Jimmy, Merrill, Jay, Virl, and Tom. He was preceded in death by brother Wayne, who passed away in January 2025.
