Popular singer, actor, television host and former teen idol Donny Osmond has honored his late brother Alan Osmond.
Alan — the oldest of the famous Osmond siblings — sadly passed away at the age of 76 on Monday, April 20, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
Donny and Alan performed together as part of family music group The Osmonds, starting in around 1963, when Donny joined as a six-year-old. They would continue to perform together on and off for over forty years, until Alan’s condition forced him to retire in the late 2000s.
Following Alan’s passing, Donny took to Instagram to pay tribute to his oldest sibling.

Posting on his Instagram account to his 481,000 followers, Donny Osmond shared a photograph of himself with his oldest brother, Alan Osmond. In the picture, Donny is a baby, meaning Alan would have been around eight years old when it was taken.
Donny’s caption on the post begins, “This is one of the earliest pictures I have of my brother Alan and me.”
It continues, “Even back then, you can see that he had his arm around me, watching over me. That’s who he was. My protector. My guide. The one who quietly carried so much responsibility so the rest of us could shine.”
Donny goes on, “Alan was our leader in every sense of the word. His tireless work helped build everything we became. I will always be grateful for the sacrifices he made and the love he showed—not just to me, but to every member of our family.”
He adds, “I owe him more than I can ever fully express.”
The caption concludes with Donny saying, “I love you, Alan. Thank you for always being there for me. Till we meet again, Brother Donny.”
It’s a truly heartfelt tribute that conveys the immense love the Osmond family had for Alan, as well as the immense loss his passing represents to them.
