Ray J’s Devoted Manager Speaks Up After Star Bled Through Show Appearance

Fans were stunned when Ray J appeared onstage looking visibly unwell during a Valentine’s Day concert — and now his manager is explaining why the show went on.

The 45-year-old singer performed Feb. 14 at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium in Louisiana, handing out roses and singing to the crowd.

But videos from the night quickly spread online after viewers noticed what looked like blood streaking from beneath his sunglasses and a medical monitor taped to his chest.

In an interview with PEOPLE, his manager Melinda Santiago, addressed the situation bluntly.

“We all know that Ray J has been under the weather, but all my artists that work with me gotta do their job whether they are bleeding or not,” she told the outlet.

Ray J later appeared to stand by her comments, posting a smiling photo of the pair beside a private jet and writing, “WHATEVER MELINDA SAYS GOES,” with a blood-drop emoji.

Fans Alarmed by Onstage Moments

Clips from the performance showed Ray J dressed in bright orange while moving through the crowd with roses.

When he briefly lifted his sunglasses, what appeared to be red streaks under both eyes became visible.

The footage quickly sparked worry, with many fans questioning whether he should have been performing at all.

The concern wasn’t just about what viewers saw onstage — it was also about what they already knew about his health.

A Tough Road Behind the Scenes

Just weeks before the concert, Ray J had shared that he was hospitalized in Las Vegas with pneumonia and severe heart issues.

He revealed doctors told him his heart was functioning at roughly 25 percent capacity and warned him about the seriousness of his condition.

Since then, he has spoken openly about being on multiple medications and making major lifestyle changes to stabilize his health.

That timeline made the Valentine’s Day performance feel even more intense for fans watching online.

For some, it showed dedication to his craft. For others, it raised concerns about the pressure artists sometimes feel to keep going despite serious health struggles.

“Take care of you first,” one social media user wrote.

Others added that they just wanted the singer to get well for his family, and they would be happy to wait to see Ray J perform again when he is at 100 percent.

Through it all, Ray J has kept a positive public face, smiling in recent posts and thanking supporters.

But the moment has sparked an ongoing conversation about balancing career demands with personal well-being — and about how much fans really see behind the spotlight.
